Very central to shopping, buses, theatre and not far from the sea front, the hotel is on a busy street. The rooms and the reception area and restaurant seem to have been improved recently and having stayed there a few times in the last 3 years with friends or family, I have found it an ideal place to stay. It is also not far from the train station (about 5 minutes by taxi).
There is parking at one of two nearby car parks at very reduced rates but cars are not really needed to get around Brighton.
The prices are very reasonable but at weekends, you need to book well in advance. The rooms are basic but clean and bathrooms are modern with good showers. The accessible rooms for disabled people are large but lacking some handrails and not all have showers. Sometimes other visitors have been very noisy at nights but I haven't found this to be a problem more than once..
The food in the restaurant has definitely improved and there is a reasonable choice of popular dishes but the hotel is very near a range of different restaurants and cafes.
Staff are very helpful and will advise on taxis, events, and places in Brighton. If the room is unsatisfactory for any reason, e.g. noise, accessiblity etc, they will try to offer an alternative.
