I stayed here for just one night back in June. Getting to this hotel from the motorway was very easy, and it took literally one minute from the M5 to the hotel car park.
From the outside, this building looks modern and clean. This is also the case inside the hotel. The rooms are the standard size of other travelinn/travelodge/hi express rooms. These ones were very clean and smart. The bathrooms were immaculate, the furniture was very comfortable, and there were adequate facilities for making a quick (basic) hot drink inside the bedroom.
On to the critical part of the review:
The room was incredibly warm for the entire night, to the point where it was uncomfortable. The heater was not used at any point during the stay, the window was opened as far as the locking chain would allow, and yet the room was incredibly warm. Because of this, the window had to be kept open fully all night long. This allowed the traffic noise from the nearby motorway into the room, making it difficult to get to sleep. A fan is provided in the room, but that generates lots of noise whilst just blowing the hot air around the room. Air conditioning is very much needed in this hotel yet isnt installed.
Also, you need to use your room key to unlock about three doors in-between the lobby and your room (excluding your actual room door). This was slightly irritating, and it meant having to take your room key with you when moving around the building, causing the lighting and power-outlets to turn off for anyone staying in the room until you get back.
As a nice touch, chilled water from a dispenser was provided as a refreshing alternative to luke-warm tap water in your room. The small bar next to the lobby was ideal for getting a drink to unwind after a long journey. I didn't try the food there, but the menu did look a little expensive for the sort of place it is. (It's not as if there is a restaurant full of people demanding top-quality food, the place is, essentially, serving elaborate 'bar-snacks'.)
I would hesitate about staying here again in the summer, because the rooms were too hot and nothing could be done to sort that out. This sort of place would be absolutely ideal all-year round except for the june/july/august period. Overall, the hotel was comfortable and exceptionally clean, and the locked doors (I counted five on my way between the car-park and being inside my room) make you feel very secure.
Nearby is the well-known Cribbs Causeway shopping mall, ideal for those weekend shopping trips. A movie theatre is within walking distance, along with several excellent-quality eating establishments. TGI Fridays and Bella Pasta are personal favourites.
Decaf coffee is provided, along with one two Twinnings drawstring tea-bags and two coffee biscuits. (Info requested by a previous comment).
The staff were polite and friendly, although we did have to bear with a trainee being shown how to check-in for the first time. The car-park is a good size, but even so it will overflow on some occasions.
