First of all, I have to say that i do appreciate this hotel being at a motorway service station however, other service stations I have been to have coach stops whereas this hotel is only accessible by car (or if you like to splash the cash, by taxi). The hotel has everything you come to expect from the Travel inn/Travelodge type of hotel with a decent bed, a pull-out sofa, decent bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, and a few satellite tv channels. My husband and I thought we should give this hotel a try as it is located pretty much bang in the centre between Edinburgh and Glasgow, with Edinburgh around 50 mins away and Glasgow 40mins away taking traffic into account. The hotel is also an OK price, coming in at 47pounds a night.
One area i was disappointed in was the fact that despite it being in a service station, our bedroom was next to the road up to the truck parking lot, so every five minutes we were disturbed by the thundering of an articulated lorry driving by our window. Our window was also roughly at the same level as the truck's cabs whcih wasn't exactly ideal. Also, in order to give the truck drivers some guidance at night, there was a streetlamp across from our window. However, it was more of a floodlight than a streetlamp and even with the net curtains and heavy curtains shut there was still light seeping through.
I must also say that i wasn't too impressed by the fact that when my husband and I were going out, upon realising I had left my purse in the room, I went back to collect it, whereupon i was asked in a threatening way if I could prove if i was actually staying in the room - despite the fact that this was the same woman who had checked us in the previous day.
Overall i would say that this hotel is ok value for money although you could get a hotel in the same chain in the centre of Glasgow for the same price. Taking into consederation where it is situated, this hotel is not really one to stay at for more than a couple of nights.
