Due to hectic summer i decided to treat myself to a short break to London. Having heard and read so many horror stories about low priced accommodation in London. also as i was travelling alone and didn't want to get walloped with suppliments, I decided to book the premier Travelinn at Tower bridge. Which came in at £82.95 per room per night room only.
Location
The hotel is located down Towerbridge road, 200m from tower bridge on the south side of the river. Nearest tubes are Tower Hill (500m) which involves a pleasent walk over Tower bridge then just follow the road under the railway bridge and the hotels just past the first set of lights after the bridge. London Bridge come out of the Station turn right, past the dungeon then just follow the road until you come to Tower bridge Road turn right and then as Tower bridge. as stated from both stations you have to go under a railway bridge which can be daunting for some but it is well lit and on a main road.
Hotel
Upon arrival at the hotel i completed the usual formalities which included paying for the room ( it seems to be company policy that guests pay on arrival.). I was offered the chance of pre paying for my breakfast and having a morning paper delivered both of which i declined Check in was fast and i was given my key card when i arrived at my room the phone was rnging, it turned out to be the reception telling me that i had left my wallet which i found very nice, they could have had me sweating over that.
The room
The room was a pretty basic but comfortable room with the usual amenities, Bed (well obviously.) which was of the king size variety and although comfortable i did find it a bit too soft at times, a sofa which can be used as a third bed. TV which had a selection of TV and radio channels it also doubled as an alarm clock which saves recption making wake up calls, Tea and coffee making facilities, and en-suite shower and bath . i was located in a room at the back of the hotel which meant that i didn't get all the traffic noise but unfortunately a fan system outside made a slight racket but nothing too serious. The room on the whole was cleanly presented and was serviced during my stay. I must admit i don't sleep too well in Hotel rooms.
The restaurant/ bar
This particular hotel had an internal "slice" restaurant and bar which i sampled on my first night i must admit although the service was good i did find the staff a bit pushy with a view to side orders and the food although good was nothing to shout about. the bar which is also within the restaurant had a welcoming feel even though it did take an age to get served at one point, facilites included Tv and pool table. The restaurant was also used as the Breakfast room between 0630 and 10 Am, Breakfasts can either be prepayed at check in or when you go for breakfast itself. The breakfast is a self service buffet where you can have either continental and/or a full english. If you are unsure the staff will explain how the system works which i found helpful.
Leaving As with all places you have to check out by 12pm which i was a bit worried a bout as my train didn't depart til 3pm and the though of carrying a heavy bag round London didn't fill me with enthusiasm, but the problem sorted the hotel offer a luggage storage facility free of charge so i could leave my bag and enjoy my morning.
Opinion
I have stayed in travel inn hotels before and have found them quite pleasent and clean although a bit basic, but they are designed for people on the go.who just want somewhere to lay their head, but at both venues i have found staff helpful and obliging should a problem occur. I would deffinatly stay in one again. Fortunatly every thing ran smoothly so i had an enjoyble time ( i hope i haven't bored you.)

Are you sure that Tower Hill is the nearest tube? 500m seems a bit under-estimated to me...though I will agree that the walk from there is almost certainly more pleasant than that from London Bridge. Lx

I'd rather stay in a Travel Inn or Travelodge type accommodation than not know what kind of hotel you're going to end up in.
