As my family live in Rugby we often take a trip down a few times a year to see them all and have a break while we are there and for that reason we have stayed at both the premier inn and Travelodge on a number of occasions. We decided with there being five of us two adults and three children it would be best to book a hotel. On shopping around we found we could not find anywhere that had rooms for a family of 5 and as Premier Inn had a special £29 a room per night promotion I decided to give them a call and ask if we brought a cot for our son who was 6 months old would it be ok for the 5 of us to stay. I spoke to a friendly woman who said this would be fine they would even provide the cot but we decided on taking our own travel cot.
Parking
We arrived around 8 pm and found a parking space very close to the entrance. The hotel itself was well sign posted so we found it easily just of the motorway. We parked up close to the entrance which was perfect as we had a few bags. The parking was free and as it had been snowing grit lay everywhere which was good as I tend to have a habit on ending up on my bum. There was a fair amount of spaces and it did not seem too busy when we stayed which was great as it meant no trouble parking at all.
Food
Brewster’s fayre is right next door to the hotel and perfect for quick convenient food. Although we tend to eat at our relatives when we stay in rugby we have had dinner a few times here and it has been great. When you enter you make you order at the bar and give them your table number the food was served rather quickly and was really nice. They have a simple menu but with a range of dishes on there so there is something to suit everyone. The food was hot and fresh and full of flavour. It is fairly reasonable too they have special offers like 2 meals for £10 and then add a dessert each for an extra £1 as well as deals for the children and the drinks are a reasonable price too. We never had breakfast here but they have special offers when you book a room for example 1 child eats free with each paying adult and next time we visit I think we will take advantage of this offer.
The hotel and our experience
The building itself is fairly new and as you approach it really it just looks like any other premier Inn I have visited the trade mark purple sign on show and this continues as you enter the hotel it is clean fresh and simple. As soon as you walk through the doors you are greeted by the reception desk with friendly staff waiting to greet you. We were welcomed by the receptionist she kindly took payment and gave us our room key. We went up to the floor needed in the lift and entered our room. Everything was perfect a lovely king size bed a single bed and a single mattress on the floor. Although the room was large we found it a bit of a struggle to find room for our travel cot but saying that the room was intended for 4 not 5. The beds were very comfy and the quality of the quilts and pillows were high everything needed for a perfect night’s sleep.
The children’s beds were already made up waiting for them and I liked the fact they actually had a bed each rather than a pull put sofa bed as we have seen at so many other hotels it made them happier and my daughter thought it was great her bed was so close to the floor she told me it was just like camping.
The room was spotless very clean, the room temperature was perfect but there was a thermostat in the room so we could adjust the heating as we pleased. Also there were the appropriate things need to make tea coffee etc on hand and also body wash shampoo in a dispenser in the bathroom. Clean fluffy towels were provided the whole room was very comfy and welcoming. There were leaflets around explaining about a breakfast option either a standard breakfast in the joining building or an all you can eat and the children eat free per paying adult. We opted out of this as we could save money by eating at our relatives. As we were close to the motorway I was worried it may be a little noisy but in fact there was no noise at all from the road and we were able to get a peaceful nights sleep. We found the curtains once drawn provided the room with enough darkness to get to sleep which was great in the morning meaning the children did not wake up as soon as the sun rose. Even the large doors in the corridors have large slow stoppers on them meaning they do not bang through the night when people are arriving which means no disturbances.
The next morning we left for a busy day visiting relatives and again returned around 8pm. This time we were greeted by a rather rude receptionist. After being stopped and questioned on which room we were in she then proceeded to ask why there were 5 and not 4 of us. After checking we were then 'allowed' to proceed upstairs. The room had been tided bins emptied empty sugar milk pots taken away tidied but not too much as to be intruded. We settled the children down and decided on having a little drink so my partner went downstairs to get us drinks from the bar and also to meet one of our relatives at the front desk as we had forgotten left our phone while visiting her. When he returned to the bedroom he told me he had seen Sarah (sis in law) but that the receptionist was not happy as he had not taken the room key with him when going to the bar. We were not informed about this when we arrived so he had explained this and returned upstairs.
On leaving we were met with smiling faces that checked we had enjoyed our stay and thanked us. Our overall stay was good the rooms were perfect most of the staff was very accommodating to our needs and we were greeted by a comfy clean room. For the price of £29 we were very pleased and even at paying full price we would have been happy. The one downside to the stay was that one receptionist that must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. When we decided to travel again premier Inn will be our first choice.
Summary
Since I wrote this review we have been back to premier Inn a few times and on all occasions had a really great stay, the staff has been very friendly and accommodating to anything we need, the rooms clean and comfortable and we really have enjoyed our stay.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area it is a fantastic budget stay and very welcoming.
The hotel is very easy to find and it is situated right next to the M6 so very practical if you are travelling. Rugby is only around a mile away, there is a Tesco’s just down the road if you needed to pick anything up and Coventry is only around 7 miles away so it is really is in a convenient location. For a family room it can cost around £70 but if you book ahead you can get that heavily reduced and they often hold sales which is when I tend to book our rooms as they are much more reasonably priced at £29.
