Introduction
Coffee and sandwiches are ideal treats throughout most people's busy working lives. This coffee shop chain is a major player in the London area of England, as there are many stores in London's towns. I first visited a Pret coffee shop around three years ago as I grew tired slightly of more expensive and rival coffee shops.
The reason I like visiting the Pret coffee shops is that they have a just roasted date advertised behind the counter, which is a good sign in knowing that the coffee is fresh and great quality. Compared to other coffee shops, Pret a Manger stores do offer great quality visits.
Food/Snack Options
These include and vary depending on the time of the day people visit. There are morning, lunch and afternoon food options. I noticed during morning times, the stores sell full croissant, sandwich and salad choices. During the lunch and afternoon there are similar though there are similar options though there are more salad wraps and soup available. The store also sell crisps, snack bars, muffins and yoghurts. They also have cold drinks, cakes and other nice desserts.
What I like about the Pret A Manger food and drinks is that there are vegetarian food options as well as having international style foods. The sushi is quite good.
Price Comparison
A regular cappuccinos at a Pret Store is around one Pound and eighty nine pence, which compares well to rival stores who charge north of two Pounds, for a similar size cappuccinos. Regarding the taste and general appearance of the cappuccinos at a Pret A Manger, I have found that it is more unique and slightly lighter blend of cappuccino, though it does have a rich taste. The presentation of there hot drinks are first class though in most visits to the coffee store they present the drink in a plastic cup as opposed to a Costa Coffee or Starbucks drink.
The prices of salads, sandwiches are competitively priced to other supermarket foods, though the Pret A Manger stores at least give the customer flexibility in being able to eat either in store or to take the food and drink away. The variety of baguettes, sandwiches is wide ranging, including choices such as, seafood, duck, and plainer choices of cheese and salad sandwiches.
I have found the baguettes and sandwiches to be very tasty and really worth the money spent.
Service Standards
I find the layout of most Pret stores fairly small in terms of retail shop size. I do like the queue handling system which most often results in the queue's being handled much quicker and efficiently than in visiting a large fast food chain. From my experience I have been served within two minutes, and sometimes even received my order within this time.
Most Pret shops have customer toilets which are very well presented and clean to say the least. Each member of staff wears Pret A Manger uniform which is similar to Starbucks staff, though the appearance of the uniform helps make the staff to appear more professional. Also when there are empty products categories there are 'Chef at Work' signs which show a sign that the management are aware of the availability of empty stock shelves.
Staffs here tend to be hard working and I have never been to a store where even when there are no customers do the staffs appear to be idle. Each member of staff here is either serving customers or seen cleaning and tidying up the store.
Coffee Shop Ambience
I find the ambience to be more pleasant compared to its rivals. The music tends to be a tranquil Jazz or Blues music tone. The great thing about this is that from these customers tend to be less noisy and much more professional in behaviour.
Other Information
On the Pret A Manger website they have a pre-paid card system so that regular customers can top up their credits without needing to use cash. New customers registering some basic information who have a Pret card can obtain a free cup of coffee up to the value of one Pound and eighty nine pence, so even if you visit once, the next cup of coffee is free. The chain also offer businesses and residential customers free delivery if the order is over thirty Pounds, for orders below this level there is a six Pounds charge. Another thing worth mentioning is that their foods do not contain artificial ingredients or preservatives that are widely found in supermarket stores.
Conclusion
I would highly recommend Pret A Manger as their coffee products are great and also their sandwiches are great for leisure and business people.
Advantages: Great range, ethical Disadvantages: Expensive
Ready to Eat Pret a Manger is my lunchtime, well, and breakfast treat. Pret a Manger is a French phrase meaning ready to eat and that's exactly the way to explain the food they sell in their outlets. Pret (as it is most commonly known) is a UK sandwich retailer. As of November 2006 there were 155 UK shops with 118 of them in London. I work in London so these stores are very handy for me. You could probably walk down any busy London high street and ... ...sign out front which says Pret in big red letters with a red star behind it which is their logo. Inside all the stores are the same, they have a lot of chrome in them and red seats and booths for sitting. The sandwiches and other food stuffs are displayed in big metal cases or fridges in some instances to keep the produce cold. Pret was founded in 1986 by two friends at university. What I love about Pret compared to other places where you can buy ...

...am a firm believer that Pret sells some of the best around. Just thinking of pret sandwiches makes me hungry. All of them are freshly made on site and you can tell. I have yet to encounter a soggy sandwich (as I have done previously with Boots). My two favourites have to be
1. Crayfish and Rocket (£2.90)
2.Super Club (£2.70)
Here we have our first problem. The PRICE IS NOT CHEAP and eat in is dearer than take away. What hits me is why you would ... ...Yet despite the good sandwiches, Pret COULD BE SO MUCH BETTER. The drinks and desserts accompanying it don't even come close to the quality of Starbucks. The variety, the packaging all seem lacking. Their coke is horrible and the coffee is average. Cakes are sold it TINY slices, good for diets bad for the purse and the sugar tooth. There are also other options such as sushi, wraps and bakery. I have found none of these satisfactory. The sushi is ...

Advantages: Well presented and reliable food, friendly staff Disadvantages: Too expensive and a little pretentious
The idea is great: a chain sandwich bar selling freshly prepared sandwiches guaranteed additive-free, with a range of coffees, soft drinks (inc smoothies) and cookies on the side. The reality isn’t: the sandwiches are expensive (starting at £2.59) even if they are very fresh and packed with ingredients, and don't taste as good as they look. Consume them in-store - not a comfy option, the steel stools and mini-tables look good but are uncomfortable ... ...staff aren't compensation enough.
(This is cheating slightly, but I feel I have to explain: someone laid down the challenge of writing a VH op in exactly 90 words, I'd never normally write something so short but it seemed like quite a challenge: I'd love to see if anyone can do it. Comments please!) ...

Advantages: Great range, fresh ingredients, always trying new combinations Disadvantages: Some can be slightly pricey, and it can sometimes be rather busy
Since Pret a Manger first opened in London in 1986, there has been a huge wave of popularity. They now own around 190 stores, most of which are in the UK, meaning there is one in most towns.
I love Pret - they offer a great range of food, perfect for lunches, which you can either eat in or take away. Although there are the more basic sandwiches, such as a good old egg mayo, they also offer more exciting combinations, such as crayfish and avocado salads.
The food can be quite pricey, but some options, such as the egg mayo, are also suprisingly cheap. The price however definitely reflects the quality; the food tastes a million times better than your average shop-bought sandwich, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Ingredients are fresh each morning, which means that, as well as not including the many additives ...
Advantages: Quick service, fresh sandwiches Disadvantages: Some items are pricey, no place to sit
Although coming from the US I never thought I'd eat a sandwich in a box, Pret a Manger changed my mind. Pret's sandwiches are consistently fresh and usually cheaper than buying a sandwich in a sandwich shop. Plus, whenever I've visited, the staff was always friendly and efficient, and the stores were always cleaner than clean.
On top of the wide variety of traditional sandwiches (including both veg and non-veg versions), Pret offers baguettes, salads, and innovative items such as one-sided sandwiches. In addition, Pret's started selling soups, and each version I've tried has been delicious. There are plenty of options for everyone -- vegetarians, vegans, people on the Atkins diet, etc.
Pret also offers food for various times of the day. In the morning, you can stop in for a yogurt pot and a coffee. Or a pastry and a smoothie ...
Advantages: Freshly prepared food Disadvantages: Few low-calorie or vegetarian options
The first time I went to a Pret was about ten years ago in Oxford. Since, I've eaten countless meals from Pret, most time enjoying it, but sometimes wondering why I always come back for more.
In spite of the name just being a euphemism for 'salad', I love their No Bread Sandwiches, particularly the one featuring the all-time winners avocado, mozzarella, pine nuts, basil and olives.
Yesterday I tasted their all new Tabbouleh No Bread Sandwich for the first time. This salad is all vegan, the tabbouleh containing great healthy ingredients such as chick peas, pine nuts and beans. The lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber slices come in a Dijon dressing. In spite of enjoying the health aspect, I have to say I found the salad - including the tabbouleh - rather dull-tasting. Middle Eastern-inspired food can be so full of taste, with the usual ...
