On arriving in Barcelona after catching an easyjet plane from Newcastle we jumped on a train into the centre of Barcelona then hopped on the underground to this hotel. When we arrived I was very impressed by the entrance to the hotel, the look of it inside and the style it looks very posh and expensive. We were greeted by very friendly staff and were checked in quickly and given our keys to our room. There was a bell boy to hand to help you with your luggage should you need it, and the atmosphere was plesant and chilled.
When we arrived to our room i was greated with a clean, stylish, gorgeous looking room with a walk in shower which had jets coming out the wall and it had a nice dark wood feel to it. First thing i did was went up onto the roof to the pool, where there was sun loungers, complementary slippers and towels and a small bizarre river style pool but was very nice. The hotel had everything you needed a nice bar, all the mod cons a nice restaraunt with lush food and staff were always happy to help and make your stay a pleasant one!
Location wise was great, it was a 5 minute walk to the nearest beach and the tram stopped just outside the hotel which you could take to the centre of Barcelona where there was bars, restaraunts and shops and there was a huge indoor shopping cenre just around the corner where i found a mac donalds, which had more restaraunts and a couple of quiet road side bars. The hotel is more in the spanish area of Barcelona where everyone lives, but within easy access to transport, including tube and local busses!
If your visitingf Barcelona and want to be locaed slightly out from the main hussle and bussle of the city, want to stay somewhere that oozes style and sophistication with easy access to everything the city has to offer then this is the place for you. There was also a larger pool on a lower floor of the hotel and the views of the surrounding area was amazing especially from the roof top which was 20+ floors up.
Next time i visit it will def be where i stay, but maybe next time i will get a taxi as it can be very tiring when its 30+ degrees and your on a train sweating your socks off. The underground was not too bad as it had aircon but still stuffy as you can probably imagine.
Advantages: Located within the business district and ideal for airport Disadvantages: Nightlife is a good taxi ride away
based along the Diagonal. Also, within a very short walking distance is the city's main University building and associated educational faculties.
There are a number of hotels located in this area and are only a 10-minute walk from one another along the Avenue Diagonal. Moving down away from the Rey Juan Carlos is the Princess Sofia Hotel, then comes the Hilton Barcelonahotel, and a little further down but set back off the Diagonal is the Melia Barcelonahotel. All the hotels mentioned are all full service business hotels providing a range of facilities.
There also used to be a lot of prostitutes in this area, but they appear to have been moved on. Darn! (Joke). Actually, when I first visited Barcelona for business back in 2001, I was staying at the Hilton with my then boss and now close friend Dean, and we were jogging from ...
Advantages: Multicultural, pleasant and warm Disadvantages: None
stadium is situated and is now home to the city of Barcelona's 2nd football team Espanyol.
* Football Teams: As mentioned, Barcelona has two football teams.
FC Barcelona play at the fabulous "Nou Camp" stadium located to the south west of the city, near the Avenue Diagonal (Close to the Rey Juan Carlos and Princess Sofia Hotels), and holding a capacity of circa 110,000. FC Barcelona were crowned Spanish Champions last Wednesday, one day before I visited, and with two games left to play, beating their great rivals Madrid to the "La Liga" Championship.
Espanyol also play in La Liga, the Premier division in Spain, but only by the skin of their teeth! I departed Barcelona on Saturday afternoon last week, and Barcelona were due to play at home to Espanyol that evening, with Espanyol desperate for the points as they were in ...
Advantages: Great value for money, clean, friendly staff, quiet, large rooms, varied menu, close to beach Disadvantages: Paper thin walls, gym and sauna located in another hotel
peace and quiet, a hotel with a number of facilities, it had to be close to a beach and sufficiently far enough from any lively areas so not to disturb me but at the same time close enough should I wish to partake in an evening of drunken debauchery. So as you can tell, when I made my booking I took Expedia on face value and worked on the basis that this was the place for me to enjoy myself in the sun. The cost for Half Board equated at the time of booking to £54.04 per night for 2 adults in a standard double room.
Located 12.5 miles from Reus airport and only 96 miles from Barcelona, the 100 roomed Punta Dorada Princess is part of the Princess chain of hotels and sits opposite the Negresso Princesshotel. On the top of an outcrop the hotel overlooks the Mediterranean and a stretch of golden sand. As I had wanted somewhere a little ...
