THE AREA:
Costa Dorada, meaning 'the golden coast' is a beautiful area, the small town of Salou is full of interesting shops and is great to just wander round.
ACTIVITIES: There is plenty to do, Port Aventura is a MUST, suitable for all ages with spectacular shows and a wide variety of rides, it makes a great day out for all the family, although prepare to stay till late to watch the magnificent fireworks and light display. Day trips to Barcelona are another great day out, although perhaps not so much for young children. Snorkling of off a catamaran in the med was something i particularly enjoyed as this two hour trip was organised by our hotel, however i would recommend going earlier in the morning to avoid the midday heat as well as the midday rush! There are a few local water parks, we only visited port caribee, which is part of port aventura, which was enjoyable but involved a great deal of queing and sunburn! There were plenty more activities offered by both the hotel and the area, such as swimming with sea lions and a variety of sports.
HOTEL:
The Princess Maritim hotel is the best hotel i have ever stayed in, although only 3 stars it feels like at least four. The hotel is immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, several computers with internet access are in reception which are cheap to use and one includes a webcam. The swimming pool and hotels facilities were ideal for all the family. The only slight disadvantage is that there was a mad rush for sunbeds by the pool in the morning but being a minutes walk away from the beach this was not too much of a problem. The food was well presented although slightly bland but this is to be expected when catering for such a large number of guests. The hotel entertainment is the best i have ever seen. you feel like you should be paying to go and see it!
The area and hotel and both fantastic and i would reccomend it to anyone.
