Private Accommodation Raspudic, Split, Croatia

...are well furnished, 2-or 3-bed private rooms, and spending time relaxing here is not a chore. When the weather was too bad to walk around town or go to the beach it was the ideal place to pass a few hours writing journals, reading and napping, without the usual disturbances from other guests usually encountered in hostels.

...bus to get there we enquired with the hostel owner where the nearest bus stop was-he was only too keen to explain that there was no need for the bus-it was only 15 minutes walk, and he produced a map on which he marked the route for us. This kind of hospitality is exceptional from a hostel anywhere-but from our experience in hostels and restaurants in the rest of Croatia the brothers might just be the two most welcoming people in the country!

One of the first things you notice when arriving in Split (by train at least) is the abundance of people ready to offer you somewhere to sleep for the night. Even at 7am we had to run the gauntlet of people out to make an easy buck. That's not to say there's necessarily anything wrong with any of these places, but we had already booked our accomodation, so we ignored them, and I am glad we did!
Raspudic seems like a strange arrangement at first, as the hostelworld website describes it as 2 separate flats, but if you're in a small group this will not be a problem, and the 2 are within 3 minutes walk from each other anyway. They are also very conveniently located for shops, the station, beaches and the old town, which also means it's close to the port, with daily ferries to nearby islands.

When we arrived, tired after a 16 hour train ride, we were not anticipating a warm welcome at 7am, but the two brothers running the hostel were extremely friendly, and even offered to put some laundry on for us. We couldn't yet move into our room as the previous occupants hadn't moved out yet, but we were able to leave our bags and explore the area, with the owners telling us the best places to look around, and giving us a map.

When we got back, about 11am, we were pleased to find the owners had not only done our washing, but had hung it on the line outside our room for us.

The bathrooms in the hostel were both newly finished, and to a very high standard-nicer than my home bathroom, and certainly far more than expectations would predicts from a hostel.

Whilst most hostels are not the sort of place you would want to spend much time-and indeed, what is the point if you come to see the town? As far as sleeping goes-the beds are comfortable, and the hostel is small so there is no disturbance from the other guests. There was also no noise from the neighbours around the courtyard our room backed onto.

There is no food served-please ignore part of the rating.
