    Advantages Advantages good support before leaving the country

    After deciding that I wanted to travel overseas for my gap year I started looking for organizations that could assist me in this. I knew that I wanted to work as a volunteer (as opposed to being an Au Pair or just travelling) and also that I wanted to stay for a whole year, not just part of it. When looking through my 'Careerscope' magazine I saw an advert for Project Trust. They stated that they offered a whole year in your selected country, most of the organization I had looked at only offered 3 or 6 months.     Reading the previous review both before taking my Project Trust (PT) gap-year and afterwards made me want to give my opinions on the organisation & its pro's and con's, Here goes: Basicly, taking a gap year was something I had always wanted to do, and as soon as I got a chance, I was raring to go. I found PT on the Internet, then heard a schools talk by an ex-volunteer - vaguely convinced, I applied for an info pack. As a politics student (cynic) I tried to find fault with all of the gap-year organisations, and to be honest, it was very easy. PT seemed to be the best of a bad bunch. I put the ... more
