Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London It's More Than A Hotel!

Advantages: Pleasant Staff, Good Customer Service, Nice Breakfast
Disadvantages: Expensive

The Victoria Park Plaza in London is an amazing hotel that has very comfortable, quality rooms and staff who are friendly and professional. The best thing about The Victoria Park Plaza is that it is in a prime position just two minutes from Victoria Station and an easy walk to some of London's main attractions. I found it perfect for shopping and buying souvenirs. There were also quite a number of restaurants close by and my mum who cannot walk far didn't complain once. Although we ate at the hotel we also sampled London's China Town. It is a four star hotel and lives up to the standard. It is situated close to Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament. The hotel does not allow smoking anywhere near the building which my mum and I really appreciated because we are both none smokers. The smoking ban made ...

My Lovely Lagos

Advantages: A Great Atmospheric Town Bubbling with Life and Colour
Disadvantages: None

I don't know why it has taken me so long to get round to writing about Lagos. I guess when you live in a beautiful place you tend to take your surroundings for granted. It's six years now since I left Portugal but there isn't a day when I don't miss the colour and ambience. On days like today when Warsaw is a sea of grey I really miss the colours blue, white and yellow - sky, white-washed houses and sand. The first stop for visitors arriving in the Algarve will be Faro airport. Faro is a fine town ans has a lot to offer for a day trip but the first thing most visitors will want to do is to get in a cab or a hired car and drive to their hotel or apartment in the sun. There will be time to view Faro and its alleyways and harbour- front another day. My first memories of living in Lagos are when I lived on a boat in the fishermen ...

THE ISLAND BY VICTORIA HISLOP

Advantages: A fantastic Read
Disadvantages: Only that it is hard to put down !

I noticed that this book was a Richard and Judy Book club summer read and in my experience their book club titles are not always as good as they like to think. However, noticing it was written by Ian Hislop's wife made me intrigued and I decided to buy it. I was not to be disappointed. Set on the Greek Island of Crete and the Island of Spinalonga (north coast of Crete) which was a leper colony from 1903-1957. I am interested in family history as is Alexis who is puzzled about her Mother Sophia's family history. Her quest takes her to Crete and Spinalonga to uncover the tragic truth about her mother's family. The novel has love, deceit, life, death, happiness and much sadness. Leprosy is not an illness we hear so much about these days as it is curable , but in the days when the book was set people were isolated from ...
