There are few towns in the coast of Mexico that stay traditional, but luckily for us there is still Puerto Escondido. Known for its waves by surfers, this little corner of the country has a lot more to offer.
Don’t get scared by the crowd in the beach, nor by the pollution if you go a little farther and take a tour to go see the crocodiles, the iguanas and the turtles you will also discover some almost virgin beaches full of beauty.
Also for a really small budget you will get to eat like a king. But stay away from the restaurants that serve you next to the sea, they are too expensive and they hardly pay attention to what they serve you. If you want a good meal then go to the different restaurants scattered in the village.
Some general rules for all over Mexico and not just Puerto Escondido:
- Stay away from running water when you are thirsty, other wise you will get sick. And buy your bottled water in a store or a supermarket that way you know you won’t pay 3 times its price.
- Always try to pay in pesos, and don’t carry more than a hundred of them in cash. But never run out of cash because souvenirs will mostly tempt you where you can not use your visa.
- Stay away from food or drinks that are sold in open air, they are delicious, but unfortunately if you haven’t been used to them since birth you risk being sick. It is a little bit more expensive to go to a restaurant, but you will still get to discover some excellent food.
So have a good trip and enjoy!

Hi, I thought this was only worth a "helpful" seeing as there wasn't really that much specific info on prices, places of interest etc. Take a look at gennymutant's travel ops for some pointers on how to flesh out your travelogue. Let me know if you add to this, I'm fairly intrigued! P$

A good opinion here - a little advice though, don't spend time writing lots of short opinions, craft a more comprehensive one and spend time reading, rating and commenting on others' work - your name will become more widely known that way and other writers recently publishing opinions will not resent being pushed down the list by multiple postings. Hope this helps - TT.
