Puerto Galera (Mindoro)

Advantages: Cheap, accesible, for those in a hurry
Disadvantages: becoming too developed! not all beaches are with fine white sands

Went to Puerto Galera twice already and had the chance to visit all the beaches last time I was there. Puerto Galera in Mindoro is perfect for foreigners staying in Manila who does not have much resources and time to go to Boracay but still wants a place to go snorkeling, diving, bar hopping, and yes just plain swimming. A good 3-4 hour travel via bus and boat from Manila (a number of hotels already offer 2 to 3 days packages for Puerto Galera), ...

...to Mindoro, where you can make a stop over in Puerto Galera, also a popular beach resort. In Middle-Luzon you can climb the volcano Taal or visit Pagsanjan, the area where the film Apocalypse Now was shooted.
