If you are of the opinion, (which I was I must admit), that Majorca was a place frequented by only the young and noisy then think again. On the northern part of the island is a resort called Puerto Pollensa which bears no resemblance to the lively southern part of the island. It is heaven on earth. A lovely, peaceful resort which has not seen that much development and retains a very spanish feel to it. Set on a beautiful long, white, sandy beach with the clear blue water on one side and mountains on the other, it truly gives a diferent perspective to Majorca. No discos, just friendly little restaurants, bars and cafes. Ideal for families with younger children and for couples looking for a romantic spot.!!
Downside is that it is an hour's drive from the airport and with many of the island's 'tourist' attractions situated in Palma - close to the airport - makes for a long day out to visit any of them. Worthy of the trip though is the water park just outside Palma. Another water park is the one at Alcudia, just 15mins from Puerto Pollensa, and one better suited to younger children. A tip though - arrive early as all the loungers with umbrellas for shade get snapped up very quickly.

Having visited PP many times, I felt that you covered the essence of the place. I have family that moved to PP after spending every summer there for 15 years. They love it, and we continue to love as many holidays as possible there. Looking forward to this August's visit.
