Pulau Bintan (Java)

This island is beautiful. The beaches are as unspoilt as any in the more popular Bali, but the weather can sometimes be very rainy in the British summer. None the less, I went there and got outrageously sunburnt, which I did not enjoy in the slightest. The island seems to be made up of a lot of individual resorts more than any sort of towns or villages. As a tourist do not expect to see anything outside of your hotel complex. But what you can expect in any of the hotels there is excellent service, good rooms, clean and well-appointed. The local food (as served on special nights by some hotels) is rather suspect, but the international cusine is well done.
