Punta del Este means “point east”. And this unknown place for europeans is a massive hit for all the famous and rich argentinian neighbours. It's not more than two hours from Montevideo, Uruguay’s capital, and it's a well prepared resort for the thousands of visitors that receive every summer. I spent about 2 weeks in PdE in the coldest time of year - as a result, some days were warm and nice but most were grey and cold. There were very few people around so I had a nice quiet time - so my girlfriend and I walked around the empty streets and beaches taking in all the nice sights. Since I don't go out clubbing or tanning, I was satisfied with just spending time there. For anyone who likes beaches, girls and going out to clubs and stuff, this is definately somewhere to visit.
