Mendoza

Advantages: Chilled out, good wine, handy for the Andes and Chile
Disadvantages: Relatively small

I stayed in Mendoza for 4 nights, and enjoyed my time there. One of the main things I noticed was the low price level - especially if you are travelling from the UK. This is a huge advantage that Argentina has at the moment, and it means that you can get by very comfortably on £20/day. There are 3 main reasons that I can see to visit Mendoza: food (especially steak), wine and as a gateway to the Andes. The steaks are absolutely superb, as well as being great value for money - you won't find a better or cheaper chunk of beef anywhere in the world. Mendoza is also famous for its many wineries, and you can easily cycle round a few of them as a day trip (if you are energetic), taking advantage of free samples... As for the Andes mountains, they are perfect for climbing, hiking and other outdoor pursuits, and Mendoza is very ...

Pedalling the Punto

Advantages: Fairly inexpensive to buy
Disadvantages: Parts are expensive, insurance grouping is high

As you fellow Ciaoers may know by now I do like to write the occasional car op. After having driven the face-lifted model Fiat Punto I could not resist putting "pen to paper." The Fiat Punto has been "re-invented" since it first appeared on our roads, the very latest version has modified light clusters and a few other adjustments, but is very similar to the range made up to 2003. What does it look like ? ************************* The Punto is one of the smaller Fiats (Fiat have just launched the NEW Panda), the Punto is available in both 3 and 5 door. Compared to most cars if it's class it is not that distinctive, it blends in with most cars on the road. The main head turner with these cars is usually the colours they are manufactered in, I really do not understand who would buy a car in some of the shocking paintwork they ...

Punto To The Rescue

Advantages: Decent engine with low emissions and fuel in-take.
Disadvantages: Tiny top speed and power-steering failure occurs too often.

I purchased my Fiat Punto 6months ago from an auction in Nottingham, for just £1,000 + £200 auction charge. The car was in great condition (besides a flat tire which put bidders off), with only 41,000 miles of the clock! When I got the car home I discovered a few small problems which may or may not be common in most Punto's: - The doors were creaking loudly when opened and closed. This was something I knew WD40 couldn't fix as the clicks were vibrating the doors, making it clear the issue was past an oil deficiency. - I had several problems with the powersteering (a common issue in Punto's). When leaving a car-park I put the steering wheel in full lock and the power steering failed. It came back however and remained in tact. Then later I noticed the steering begin to deteriorate and eventually I was forced to drive on the cars ...
