As a QFF member I must say that there are lots of pros and very few cons in being a member. Award flights are easily booked online however quite often a lot of the flights are booked months ahead or are only available at non-peak times (late at night). I have used my points to fly within Australia as well as internationally several times and have never encountered any problems. Points are accrued in a fair way. If you reside in Australia then a lot of credit cards offer reward schemes where you can transfer your points to QFF. Being part of the one world alliance means you can earn points using other airlines (for example we recently flew Cathay/Swiss from Brisbane Aust to London but still accrued points on Qantas Freq Flyer programme. You get regular updates on special offers and a monthly newsletter via email and the easy to use web site gives you all the information about your points, current bookings etc. All in all, for a once only joining fee and generally no expiry date on points it is an excellent scheme.
