I have made two return trips from the UK to Thailand with Qatar, so as each journey requires a stop in Doha, thats 8 seperate flights.
Six of those were excellent. The flights were on time, the in flight food and entertainment was good (with seat back personal video systems), and the flight attendants were helpful (and seemed to speak just about every known language between them). However on two flights, I have found myself on an older aircraft without the personal entertainment systems, and with less comfortable seats. Even then though the rest of the service was as good as ever.
Doha is a reasonable airport to change flights. There's not a lot to do there, being quite a small airport, but then my timetable has always given about 1.5 hours to kill, so that just long enough to stretch the legs, browse round the duty free (which is VERY cheap for the smokers amongst you), and have a coffee. I would be wary of a schedule which left you there for too long though.
Qatar also have a frequent flyer programme. Although I don't use them often enough to benefit from free flights/upgrades, just being a member (which you can become after your first flight) gives you an extra 10kg of baggage allowance.

I'm not enough of a plane buff to know what type of aircraft they are. However I can say that many people don't seem to be aware that they can join the programme after their first journey (or just can't be bothered), so there didn't seem to many people taking advantage of it.

What size aircarft do they use as if they allow everyone after their first flight an extra 10kg that could add up to a lot of weight!! :-)
