Advantages: Close to town and all amenities Disadvantages: none
I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend.
The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home.
The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep.
We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice.
Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from ...
Advantages: Price, features of room, location Disadvantages: err... food is a bit bland and pricey
I think I spend far too much time in hotels, and can be quite demanding. That said, it is with pleasure I report that the CityInn in Birmingham is a hidden gem.
Location
The hotel is located in the trendy Brindley Place development just off Broad Street in Birmingham, and as such is ideally situated for pubbing, clubbing and general merriment and yet being secluded (for a city) enough for a bit of peace and quiet. It's a mainly pedestrianised area, and is easily accessible by foot bus or train from New Street station. The majority of other hotels in the area are located directly on Broad Street, which can be quite noisy with the drunken hordes clamouring around after about 10pm. Mind you don't get ...
Advantages: Comfortable, well placed for city, cheap Disadvantages: Area isnt the nicest
Convenience-wise, this hotel is in the perfect spot - just a few minutes walk will take you on to Sauchiehall Street, and there is a mainline train station a few minutes in the other direction. That's really the big selling point here - it is a Travel Inn, so no-one's going to expect anything too luxurious. It is very comfortable though - the rooms have plenty space, the beds are nicely firm without being hard, and everything one needs is available. The rooms have TV and phones etc too. I stayed here when I attended a wedding in the city, and therefore didnt need to return to the hotel during the day at all, but if I had, there is a large underground car park attached, which means that I wouldnt have had any problems. While I appreciated the location from a convenience point of view, I didnt really think much of the area otherwise. Its ...
