*Location*
Quebec's hotel has brilliant positioning within the centre of Leeds. It is within easy walking distance of the shops, bars and train station. This was one of the advantage points when booking this hotel as I do not know Leeds too well, therefore, it is always nice to be close to the amenities and transport links.
*First impressions & check in*
When entering the hotel, the elegance and style of the hotel are immediately apparent. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very eager to help. The decor is classic and premium and the furnishings are very comfortable. The reception desk is on the ground level , next to the Oak sweeping staircase and underneath the large beautiful stained glass windows. We visited in the Winter time and to check in seated in a comfortable chair next to a blazing open fire was divine. Our first impression of this hotel was good and we were very excited to explore the rest!
*Our room*
We opted to book a deluxe room which we were not to be disappointed with. The room was a good size and was well designed with modern but classic looking soft furnishings and accessories. There were many added touches for our comfort such as a flat screen TV (which my husband was immediately ordered to turn off, this wasn't the purpose of our visit!), mineral water, robes, slippers and to my husbands delight a CD player with a good choice of music. This was probably the high point of the visit for him. I do not mean in the sense that the stay was bad, just based on the fact that he is a sound engineer or as he likes to say ' a mixing, trixing, sound guy' & music & sound is his hobby. Due to this, his disappointment of the TV ban was very short lived. Whilst he was indulging in the well stocked mini bar and music library, I headed for the stylish bathroom & indulged in some of the free Molton Brown ( my favourite brand, yay!)luxury toiletries. Overall, the room was great, yes the boutique price tag was high but with quality like this and such a comfortable bed with super soft crispy linen it was worth every penny.
*The bar*
We decided to go and investigate the hotel after making the most of the room facilities and we soon stumbled across the Oak room or The honesty bar. I hear you asking yourself 'what is an honesty bar?' This is a bar which is not staffed at all and where alcoholic and soft drinks are laid out for consumption with nothing but a register to record your consumption in order for your drinks to be billed to your room at the end of that stay. This was very unique and a nice concept. We sat on the large comfortable sofas and chatted away soon forgetting the time.
*The rest of our evening*
We eventually headed back to our room to dress for the evening and dinner out & decided to pop back to the honesty bar before we left. We met another couple in there who we began to talk to & then another couple & eventually time flurried away. Before we knew it, time was getting on, we were getting hungry & we were having too much fun with our newly acquired friends to leave the bar now. It was then decided that we would order food up to the bar area. Although the hotel does not have its own restaurant, it does offer a 24 hour food service. We ordered a selection of fancy sandwiches which were accompanied with salad and our side orders of fries. The food was pricey but delivered quickly and freshly and was well worth the stay in the hotel. This turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening spent in the hotel and not even stepping a foot out into Leeds! At the end of the evening we very merrily made our way back to our big comfortable bed for a much needed nights sleep.
*Breakfast*
Although there is no dinner service, there is a breakfast option with a choice of continental breakfast or a full English. This can either be enjoyed in the conservatory or can be delivered to your room. We had already decided to take breakfast in bed and this was delivered at the correct time, laid out for us to eat and was fresh and delicious. The breakfast consisted of freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly bakes pastries , a full English consisting of bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms and tomato along with a fresh pot of coffee and as my husband requested Earl grey tea.
*Would we return?*
We most certainly would. This was a very nice hotel and one well worth paying for. The location was ideal, the hotel itself was clean and exquisite, the rooms were comfortable and delightful, the bar was unique and a sophisticated place to be and the food was heavenly. I would advise anyone looking for that special break away to book now, it was an absolute heavenly experience to stay here.
Summary: Highly recommended boutique hotel for a luxurious stay
Advantages: Luxurious hotel in the centre of Leeds Disadvantages: Very slow room service and small car park
Quebecs
We always go away at the beginning of December, and because it's only for one night, it's best if we go somewhere close to home (Newcastle). This time, we decided on Leeds because the last time we had visited, the shopping was good, and the bars and restaurants varied and plentiful.
I wanted a reasonably nice hotel because returning back foot weary7 after a day shopping can be a tad unpleasant if the awaiting room/hotel isn't very good.
... ...just what we were looking for, it being not overly big, and not overtly part of a large chain; there are other hotels in the group but it doesn't appear in every city in the same format. The Eton Collection, which is the group Quebecs belongs to is described as "luxury boutique hotels and two restaurants" which are found in London, Leeds and Edinburgh.
~~Where is it?~~
Situated close to the station, this is very close to the city centre.

Advantages: Luxury at a relatively reasonable price Disadvantages: Limited Parking
I stayed at this 5* hotel on new years eve 2003/2004 and have to say that this is probably the nicest hotel I've ever been fortunate to stay in - so much so, I did not want to leave the room the next day!! The hotel is located in the centre of Leeds almost opposite the train station and just a few minutes walk from Harvey Nicks and the other major shopping, eating and drinking establishments! From the outside it's nothing special, in fact you’d walk ... ...was there, as it’s just a doorway off a little side street on a large Victorian redbrick building. But once inside reception you quickly become aware that this isn’t your average hotel. The grand sweeping staircase that lies behind the reception desk draws your eye up to the huge stained glass windows beyond, each of which depicts a different Yorkshire town. The hotel has 45 individually designed rooms. Some of these are suites, named after a type ...

Advantages: Luxurious luxury throughout Disadvantages: No white toast!
As part of our 2 centre break in Yorkshire last week we spent 2 nights at this lovely hotel as we had enjoyed its opulence on a previous visit and were very impressed with its service and luxury previously.
We spent 2 nights in a luxury Queen bedded room on a B&B basis and were thoroughly pleased with the hotel.
There is limited parking available at the hotel for which you are charged £7 a day which is reasonable for a central Leeds location and ... ...that your car will be there when you need it!
The hotel used to be a former Liberal club in the city and has been sensitively transformed into a stylish boutique style modern luxury hotel. The room we stayed in was not too big but had very nice decor and a wonderfully comfortable Queen sized bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and I slept perfectly on it!
There is a minibar and satellite TV provided along with complimentary water, turn down at night ...

Took my closest friend here for her birthday, booked into one of the hotels themed suites, the licquorice suite (they're all named after classic sweets, get it!), from the moment I called the hotel the staff fell over themselves to be as helpful as they could. Can I have flowers and Champagne in room, why of course sir, can I have different sweets placed in the room as my friend hates licquorice (did i forget to mention, the room is filled with little ... ...genius!), of course sir. I feel that if I had asked them to arrange a brass band to playing in the room when we arrived they would have found a way to make this possible. When we arrived the flowers were gorgeous, the champagne chilled and the glasses set. The seating area was all windows, with stunning views accross to the historic buildings adjacent. The lights could be set on a number of settings, the bed was REALLY comfortable and the bathroom ...
