Advantages: Slower pace ... most livable city Disadvantages: At the other end of the world
...reasonable and prices are lower.
Still hungry? Maybe its time to do some sightseeing. Within the city, there is the Melbourne Observation Deck, where on a good day, you can see the coast. Its a bit on the expensive side, but print the coupon on its website for a 15% discount or at times, are are discount coupons at the airport or in guidebooks. There is a really nice cafe there; ideal for watching the sunset (on a good day) while enjoying the cakes, coffees and tea! Oops I back on food again.
Another definite city-based visit is the QueenVictoriaMarket. Its a place you have to visit at least twice. Once on a weekday or Saturday where there is an abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, meat etc on sale. And on Sunday where the clothes, art and crafts, souvenir stalls are out in force. The market is closed on Mondays and Wednesdays...

Advantages: Wonderful place to visit Disadvantages: None!!!
...the same colour as the "normal" ones (i.e. green and yellow) but just ask if you are not sure. Some of the sites the tram chugs past include Parliament House, Melbourne Town Hall, the Block Arcade and the Royal Exhibition Buildings. You can get off when you want and when you're ready to move on, just jump on the next one that goes past.
Another popular place in Melbourne is the QueenVictoriaMarket. It gets pretty busy so your best bet is to start early to avoid the worst of the rush. Queen Vic Market is the place to go were you can find anything you'd care to want, including the fabulous deli section, which smells wonderful!
If you're feet need a break from trundling around the walkways then head towards any of the many parks and gardens in Melbourne. One that I would recommend are the gardens to the right (past the Yarra River...

Advantages: The Most Liveable City in the World Disadvantages: A long way away from practically everywhere else!
...Cave is a Melbourne boy & played some of his earliest gigs there
FOOD: I probably never feel more homesick for Melbourne than I do when traipsing along the aisles of my local Sainsbury's, listlessly squeezing some rock-hard mango from deepest Peru, or some sad & shop-soiled pineapple of indeterminate origin. In Australia, oranges and avocadoes grow in back gardens. The old-fashioned green grocer is still a high street staple, and Australians buy their fruit and vegetables fresh. Only in Germany will you find better bakeries, and you probably won't find better fishmongers anywhere in the world. Melbourne's QueenVictoriaMarket is an ultimate Foodie Mecca spread over seven hectares. The fruit & vegetables are in a traditional open-air setting, whilst separate meat, fish, and deli counters are housed in the market's main building, constructed...

...of Melbourne.
There are so many restaurants in Melbourne serving such a varied range of food that you are unlikely to get bored of food. And if you are spending pounds almost everything is of exceptionally good value.
Whether you are cooking for yourself or not, the QueenVictoriamarket is one of the amazing markets I have ever visited. It has a bewildering amount of fresh foods, art, clothes, souvenirs and more. Get there in the morning though for best pickings.
The market may satisfy all of your shopping urges but if not Melbourne arguably has the best shopping in Australia. I am not much of a shopper – of clothes at least, but I know some avid fans.
A place you can combine shopping and entertainment is the Crown casino on the Southbank where you can also find bars, cafes and restaurants. Australian casinos are geared towards...
