Getting there
Our family stayed at the Queen’s Hotel Bournemouth for 2 nights back in May 2007. The drive down from North London is 112 miles and took around 3 Hours 20 Minutes which included a 30 minute stop over. The Hotel is located on Meyrick Road, just a minutes walk from the sea front and a 15 minute walk to the Pier.
There is room for about 15 cars in the car park at the front of the Hotel, with room for a further 20 cars at the rear. This is free to use for guests and you give your car registration details when you check in. The hotel has 109 rooms and deluxe suites situated over 4 floors. There is a lift near the reception to all floors except lower ground which has just 6-8 steps, so the Hotel is ideal for the elderly.
Rooms
Choices of rooms range from four-poster bridal suite rooms to deluxe, family and executive rooms. All hotel bedrooms benefit from
Colour television and Radio Hairdryer Tea and coffee making facilities Direct dial telephone 24 hour WiFi high speed internet access with T-Mobile
Refurbishment to the rooms will be taking place from January 2007 onwards one floor at a time, so check on progress of work before you book.
Dining facilities
The Queens restaurant can seat up to 220 guests. The Buffet breakfast is more than adequate, and choices include cereals, or a cooked breakfast with freshly made toast tea or coffee and fresh juices. There is a garden room and lounge and bar on the ground floor where you can relax with a drink after dinner. Evening entertainment is located on the lower ground floor, which consisted of a singer accompanied by a piano player when we were there.
Also included are conference rooms for business meetings and functions and banqueting facilities where they can cater for corporate events, private parties, Christmas parties and wedding receptions and even offer special wedding packages.
Leisure facilities
There is an indoor leisure complex with a large pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and children’s paddling pool and gymnasium. In addition there is a games room with a pool table and full size snooker. They also have a health and beauty salon available with a range of body and beauty treatments which include facial treatments, including deep cleanse and neck massage. Also available are Manicure & Pedicure, body massage, vacuum suction and waxing.
Service
Overall the staff were friendly and helpful. At breakfast the waitress would take your order for tea or coffee as soon as you sat down at your table. There was a problem with one of the rooms we had, and after speaking to the manager we were moved to another room that same afternoon, so full marks to the manager for this.
Bars / Restaurants
If you are after bars and restaurants then the location from the hotel is perfect. You are spoilt for choice here and all within a 10 walk of the hotel. Old Christchurch road and the surrounding roads has too many restaurants and bars to mention, so I am including the official Bournemouth website www.bournemouth.co.uk for you to browse through. You can also download a list “Eating Out In & Around Bournemouth 2007-2008” in PDF format. You will also find an extensive list of things to do and see including the best places to shop.
For up to date information on the Queens Hotel visit the site below http://www.queenshotelbournemouth.com You can also check for special rates and deals on accommodation they may have here.
To finish I would say you can’t go far wrong staying at the Queens Hotel and is one to put on your short list.

Great review. Thanks for the tip on the hotel, we just recently had a terrible hotel stay, well the first night anyway, at the Cliffside on the East Cliff. David
