Advantages:
Accept Group Bookings, Convenient Location, Access to a bar open until 6am, Breakfast is suprisingly edible .
Disadvantages:
Building poorly maintained, poorly furnished rooms, poorly maintained furniture, no ensuite, smelly, damp, get laughed at by cab drivers when you tell them where you are staying and breakfast is served in sister hotel 2 minutes walk away

This hotel is so shockingly bad it is laughable. I stayed here for my stag do in August 2001 and to this day I am not allowed by friends or family to book accommodation for leisure and if my work knew they probably wouldnt let me book business accommodation either.
Introduction
I always quite fancied the idea of going to Nottingham on a weekend for my stag do as I had been a couple of times before and had a great time. I chose to book the Bentinck Hotel as I had stayed here during Euro 96 (http://www.bentinck0.demon.co.uk/). Its quite a tatty hotel but I knew they'd accept a group booking, was very conveniently located and quite cheap. The Bentinck is the first hotel you see when using the North Exit at Nottingham station so its not too far to carry your bags and all 16 of us booked in nice and easy. However we were all told we were staying in their other building, The Queens Hotel, 2 minutes walk away.
The Bentinck’s uglier, dirtier, shabbier, unwell of a sister hotel sits at a fork junction on Carrington Street, which is the main road that runs past the front of the railway station. It is very conveniently located being very close to the station, and it is inbetween the Trent Bridge area (for football and cricket) and the city centre (for shopping, drinking and dancing).
The hotel has no reception so you are given a key to go through the front door. Inside, the hotel has seen a lot better days and every room of our eight had a tatty bed, with a smelly mattress, a sink, and a wardrobe (with a door if you were lucky to hide that Robin Hood costume the Stag has to wear). Additionally to this the carpets were filthy and some rooms attracted more flies than others plus each room had a view of either the tatty accommodations across Carrington Street towards the station or the druggies taking heroin in the derelict area behind the multi storey carpark. However on the plus side(?) every floor has its own personal shower room which looked like it was cleaned about once a year. It was August at the time we visited, so the shower rooms were just beginning to get dirty.
Are there any Advantages?
Suprisingly there are a few advantages of this hotel of yesteryear. The location is excellent and you are given exclusive access to the pub / bar that is under the Bentinck Hotel, which stays open until 6am or later. They also accept all male or female parties any size and a large and somewhat edible breakfast is served in the Bentincks eating room (its not a restaurant). The price is also a lot cheaper than the other city centre hotels (obviously) at £19.50 per person per night and £23.50 per person per night en suite (Bentinck only I presume).
Summary
Do I recommend it? Only just. Its cheap, conveniently located but its not the place to stay for a romantic weekend. However for a stag or hen group its ok as you’ll be accommodated as long as there’s room and who cares where you’re staying for a stag do, well ok some people do as one mate purposely pulled a less than attractive lady just so he could stay in her house overnight (but that’s only one out of sixteen of us).
