Advantages: Scenery Disadvantages: Too far from UK
...those roo’s don’t run off with your balls!
One of our last stop off points is Bells Beach, which again is a home for Surfing Competition.
From here, we finally had to say goodbye to the Great Ocean Road, as we went inland, through the towns of Geelong, and finally into Melbourne. And we were still 1000 Km from Home. We stayed on the more inland roads from that point, passing through Canberra before finally reaching Sydney, three days later.
For accommodation, Queenscliffe is a good location, or alternatively Melbourne itself, as long as you are comfortable negotiating the streets and the trams, after all that Open Road driving.
Most Aussies thought we were stark raving mad to undertake such a long journey to Adelaide and back in the space of about eight days, however we are glad we took the time, as who knows when we will get another...

Advantages: good facilities Disadvantages: expensive in parts
...Many motorists and their passengers regularly take a break on motorways. The services are an essential part of our road systems. Welcome break have many motorway service stations situated all over the UK, and they are all very similar.
Fuel stations which are reasonably priced, seeing as though they are on a motorway!
Many have a burger king,or Mcdonalds or a similar type of food outlet, the prices at these are the same as if you were buying food in the high street.
The newsagents at the areas are of good standard, and supply many magazines, books, and other quick snacks such as pies and sandwiches, even gift packs or that forgotten birthday present etc.
They have small ammusement arcades to fill time whilst resting from driving.
The coffee bars and cafes are of a good standard but they are rather expensive.
Welcome breaks...

Advantages: Beautiful city. Very relaxing Disadvantages: Maybe not as close as other European cities.
...A weekend break in Lisbon is full of good food, beautiful atmosphere and wonderful wine. I would definitely recommend Lisbon as a weekend break. GO offer cheap flights from Stansted airport to Lisbon.
We stayed in the Baixa the old part of the city - beautiful. The people were very friendly and warm. The Baixa has great atmosphere and from here navigation around the capital is very easy with trams and buses close buy.
I felt very safe walking around Lisbon at night. Its a very friendly and warm city. The architecture and ambience is great....
