...and the booze. Simple.
Queer is a fairly new addition to Canal Street in Manchester. I never marked it off on my calendar but I think it has been open for about 18 months now. It's down the end nearest the train station, but to be honest, if you're not familiar with Canal Street just wander down and I'm sure you'll find it. (The big QUEER sign will be the clue.) Voted best gay bar in the UK 2004, you would expect to find something kind of cool, ... ...start, if you're bored.
Queer is elevated a few feet above ground level, so as you go in, you have to go up a short flight of steps. As you reach the top of the steps, your senses will be greeted by a cornucopia of groovy sights and sounds. Actually, that's an exaggeration because chances are that if you're in here on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, your eyes will instantly be drawn only to the go-go dancer on the podium by the bar.
