Auckland City

Advantages: Great place to see views of city
Disadvantages: It is a city and New Zealand is so much more beautiful to go rural

General over view: Auckland was my first destination when I arrived in New Zealand, traveling into the city and seeing the Sky Tower for the first time was really cool, I remember thinking I made it! I am really here!! The City is big but easy to get around using the tram system they have in place. It is a very clean and friendly city, if you don't have long I would recommend a couple of days here. The Sky Tower is the main thing to see and do and is a great place to get great views, I also recommend taking a ferry trip to one of the near by islands. A great hint and tip for you is to take the Stray Bus free city tour, this was great to see what Auckland has to offer you, and you can book onto the tour through your hostel. They pick you up from the hostel and first take you to the Sky Tower, here they will ask if anyone wants to ...

NELSON' S BAR - AND NELSON WOULD BE PROUD OF IT!

Advantages: Nice home-made food; pleasant atmosphere
Disadvantages: The chips come ready salted

Nelson's Bar is situated within The Grosvenor Arms Pulford Hotel, a beautiful sandstone manor house set back from the main Wrexham Road in Pulford, Chester. Not to be confused with Ciro's Brasserie, the alternative eatery within the hotel and which, as can be seen from one of my previous reviews, I would not personally recommend, Nelson's Bar is a very relaxed, informal restaurant which serves a wide variety of lovely food, and at the same time, is not overly expensive. My last visit to Nelson's Bar was just a couple of months ago when we were invited out for lunch to celebrate my auntie's birthday. We are a fairly informal, laid back lot and for this kind of get together, we always look out for a restaurant with good food and a nice atmosphere, yet one where we can chill out without having to worry whether my four year old is going ...

Quest for the golden book!

Advantages: Incentives to read, stickers, fun worksheets ...
Disadvantages: none

As some regular rating readers will know my son has some issues with reading and has found things a bit harder then some of his classmates. On the last day of school he told me about this library reading contest. It's not really a contest but I can't really think of a better word to describe it. My son thought it sounded interesting and my book about helping children to learn to read said taking children to the library is a great way to encourage them. We went into the library and got him his first library card and the librarian re-explained the Quest Seekers summer reading challenge (there we go better word to describe it!). He got another card to use when getting or returning quest books, a poster for quest stickers, and some colouring pages. I let my son look around at the books and I picked the books to take home as he was looking ...
