The Quinta Da Bellavista apartments are situated right in the middle of Albufeira, with a good 15 minutes walk to either the old town or The Strip, which is regarded as the new town and where all the night life and action is.
The reception, pool area and bar are on the opposite side of the road from the apartments. We checked in (23rd June 08) and had to give a deposit of 50 euros this was to cover any damages and would be refunded at the end of the holiday. This deposit was not mentioned in the holiday brochure so beware of this when you go.
The apartment was clean and tidy, with non of the signs of squashed mosquitoes on the walls. you find a bunk bed in the hall way right opposite the toilet, i'm not sure I would have wanted to sleep there. In the toilet there is a bath, with shower, sink and foot bath. There is a mirror on the wall but you will find no power points, so girls no
hair dryer in there im affraid!
The living area is spacious and clean with a sink, cooker, fridge and table and 4 chairs. At the other side 2 single beds a wardrobe and little cupboard. In the wardrobe there is a safe which costs 20 Euros for the week. Open the 2 glass doors to the balcony which views local apartments and the signs of a crazy golf course. You will find that there is music playing from around 9 in the morning to very late at night, however, this was not a problem to us, but it might cause problems for younger families with very young children. Back in the living area the beds a reasonably cumfy but there is no air conditioning, we found the heat on a night quite hot, and I did not use any covers at all, im sure air con would have made it more comfortable. The cooker takes ages to heat up as they are hot plates rather than conventional cooking tops, i would not bother using them.
Hot water is limited I travelled with 2 females who washed their hair every night and when it came to my turn in the bath there was no hot water. I had to wait 20 minutes for the boiler to reheat. I even tried to heat water on the cooker top but this was a waste of time. If i had any complaints about these apartments it would be the water issue, but im sure if you were only a couple and willing to share the bath you would be fine, bigger families would find this not suitable at all.
Outside the pavements are all crazy paving style and they are in a mess, be very careful if you have any walking condition. This is not just around the apartments you will find most of the pavements are quite unsteady in places with holes and raised paving stones.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, there is no childrens entertainment as such but you can play bingo or quizzes most nights. The pool is quite small and when there is 20 kids in you might as well sit it out until their fun is over. The surrounding area is nicle grassed and has sunbeds around. I suggest you get a bed early as by lunch time there will be non left. There is no sun umbrellas but there are a few trees if you need a bit of shade.
Going into the old town is a nice walk, withing 5 minutes you pass a KFC and Mcdonalds, another few minutes to the big supermarket and Pizza Hut. you get to the old town by using 2 esculaters quite a novelty. I recommend a little restuarent called Cais serves some nice food. The streets are quite narrow with market stalls, this opens to a large square were all the action is. The old town is quite different from The Strip. This is where all the younger folks go, lots and lots of people. lots of bars and eating places. Il Rancho gets my recommendation here, a very nice steak house.
Im sure you will have heard about time share sellers and drug pushers here, but if not let me tell you. We never saw a time share seller here at all, but on the drugs front i was offered 'Hash' on 3 occasions, but if you ignore what is said and walk on its not a problem. Again im sure they only ask a certain person, if you have a couple of kids with you you will proberly not see any of this, likewise if you are a older and more mature person lets say, again you proberly will never be asked.
The old town and The Strip are equally as good as each other.
a meal will cost you around 9 Euros, and a pint of beer 2-50. a bottle of WKD 4 Euros.
Our week in Albufeira was very good, the temp was around 85 to 90 during the day and around 70 at night. Walking home on a night was very relaxing and hassel free. You will occasionally see beggers asking for money but just walk on by, unless you want to give them some money.
Ok we paid £500 for 3 of us for a week at Quinta, i was quite satisfied with that, but if i had paid 8 or £900 like some others i would proberly wished i had gone to a hotel or higher rating accomodation.
Quinta Da bellavista is cheap and chearful, quite comfortable but lacks plenty of hot water and no air conditioning. Ive been to better butive stayed at places also that have been on par with this place. Our group are all adults so we only used the apartments as a place to rest and wash etc.
7 out of 10 for us.
more hot water and air con would have increased it to 8.
