In a rush....sick of the relentless burgers and deepfried chicken...want something scrumptous, healthy and avaliable made to order in minutes? Welcome to Quizno’s, a Canadian-Italian Subway rival that serves a pletora of tasty treats.
How to order? The system is very much like that of Subway, tell the assistant what you want at one end of the human converyor belt and at the other end you will get your order and food.
How is it served? Eat in – your sub or bread with the soup in served in a 50’s retro dinner plastic basket, lined with branded greased paper. Take Way – your sub is wrapped in greaseproof paper labelled, makes it easy to identify if you have more than one sub to distribute when you get back to the office.
What to choose? Firstly, do you want it on white or brown? My recommendation, if you see a sub that takes your fancy go with the gut instinct. Dont delude yourself by reading the
menu you will only force yourself in to a dizzy world of confusion with your belly rumbling! The handy take out menu gives clear and concise descriptions of what is in each sub whether from the signature (priced at £2.89 for regular or £4.49 large) or classic range (price varies from £2.39 – £2.99 for regular or £3.69 - £4.59) Just to tempt you heres a rough overveiw to the ones I have sampled..... - The Traditional, filled with roast beef, turkey breast, honey-cured ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, italian seasonings, black olives and ranch dressing. - Mesquite Chicken with bacon, smoked chicken breast with bacon, cheese , leetue, tomato, red onion. Seasonigs and ranch dressing. - Teriyaki Chicken with Pineapple, chicken breast with teryiki sauce, pineapple, honey dressing and the salad stuff. - Turkey and Guacamole Lite, turkey breast, quacamole, salad, fat free vinaigrette dessing and the obligitory seasoning. - Veggie (avaliable as a lite option as well) guacamole, salad s, black olives, fresh mushrooms, cheddar, mozzarella and vingagrette. If you want something a little lighter they offer 4 fresh salads. - Traditional with turkey, beef ham and cheese - Italian with italian salamis and meat - Tuna - Garden, meat free! And if thats not enough there is fresh soup, served by the cup or with a sandwich or chilli dished up in a sourdough bowl. To accompany the meal they offer Walkers brand crisps and most of the popular soft drinks and hot drinks. For just 99p on the sandiwich price you can “Combo” the meal, basically get the drink and crisps or your 99p. The desserts they sell look tempting, bundt cake and crumble, but I dont think they are good value, at £1.59 they are a little steep.
The Customer Experience. You cant fault the Quizno’s employees, they are polite and friendly. If you dont want something in the sub just ask. The dining area is clean and tidy. You can see the food preparation area and it always looks spotless. Theres a kids meal deal as well which all adds to the family friendly environment. And I have to mention the “Party Sub” option. Simply pick which sub they want and they will make either a 3, 4 or 6 foot at your request. Not only that but they will deliverthese Party Subs, just remember to call ahead and order one. Great for partys or luncheons.
Wheres my nearest Quizno’s? This is the problem, I have only seen two Quizno’s eaterys in my life. One in Java City in Los Angeles the other in Peterborough in Serpentine Green Shopping Centre, Hampton (01733 893344) The one in Peterborough was published as the first in the country but I am sure they will be appear on a high street near you. All in all, Quizno’s is a great place and it makes a change to the vacuum packed sandwiches you can find anywhere. Even if you go for a treat or a change, there is something on the menu to satisfy the largests of appetites and its cheaper than most fast food places.
17th August 2004 - Unfortunately I have to report that Quizno's is no more but don't fret you sub sandwich loving fiends its now called "Sub Express." The rumour is (and I personally don;t listen to rumours) that the franchise in the UK was not generating enough revenue and the opened restaurants like the one in Peterborough have been rebranded "Sub Express" under a new company. Additional good news is that it is still delicious and at their usual high standard!

I love Quizno's especially their toasted Subs. Your right that there is only one in UK. At least when I go back home to Canada, they are just right around the corner.

I'm really kicking myself now! I've just finished a job in Peterborough, and if I'd read your op sooner, I'd have saved myself from many crap lunches! Fine op...but proof the spelling before you submit. :o) Steve
