Quizno's is a very healthy restaurant, which is very popular over in the USA and Canada, from where it originates. Unfortunately, there are only 2 in the UK, although I’m sure more will be set up because they are so healthy, clean and popular. I always visit the one located in Serpentine Green Shopping Centre in Peterborough. There is another one down 7 Harpur Street in Bedford.
Quizno's is famous for its signature subs (oven baked baguette style bread with various delicious fillings). You can choose whether you would prefer to have white bread or whole wheat bread, whether you would like to eat in the restaurant or take it away with you, which sub flavour you would like and what size you would like. There are 3 sizes altogether. You can choose from small which is 4.5 inches, regular which is 8 inches or large which is 12 inches. I always go for the small one, as it is very very filling.
The restaurant is very clean and tidy and the staff are very very friendly and helpful. When you order your meal, they ask you if you would like certain things in your sub i.e. tomatoes, onions, or olives etc. You can also ask them to leave out any thing that you don’t like.
The restaurant is very hygienic and the staff wear gloves to prepare your food. The cashier also wears gloves but only handles the money and not the food. The tables are also cleaned as soon as someone has finished eating. The people that have finished eating put their empty baskets onto a shelf and their left-overs into a bin, (like you do at Burger King or McDonalds) so the tables should always be clear, though sometimes you see gangs in there that go without clearing their tables, which isn't very nice.
Quizno’s proudly proclaims “The way to our customers’ hearts has always been through our oven”
They don’t just do subs in there; they also do hot drinks, cold drinks, desserts, muffins, soups that come with pieces of bread and salads etc. They also cater for children’s parties, where the kids will get a small meal with a cookie etc. The drinks in there are very expensive, compared to a normal supermarket and the subs are expensive, but they are well worth the money as they are extremely delicious. They do yummy cakes but I don’t like the cookies much because I find them too dry. I will tell you about the desserts and drinks etc later on in this opinion.
Quizno's caters for everyone, so whether you are a hungry adult, a small child, or a vegetarian there will be something for you, though I am not too sure if a Vegan would fit into this category.
If you love tasty food, then you can easily get addicted to Quizno's. I certainly have and so has my boyfriend Paul. We go every Saturday lunchtime. I'm sure everyone else in Peterborough must
be addicted to the taste, as there are always long queues and sometimes it is hard to find a table, so we have to take it away with us. Luckily it doesn't cost any extra to eat in - like some restaurants and cafes do.
The first time you go in there, ask for a card and details of how to get a free sub. Every time you present your card to the cashier, they put a hole in the side and when you get 10 holes, you are given a free small signature sub of your choice! Yummy! Paul is now on his 2nd card, so you do truly get a free one.
When you walk in to the restaurant, you go to the end where you order (there is a sign up saying 'Order here') and they ask you how you would like your sub, then you go to the other side of the till, where you pay. (There is a sign up which says 'Pay here') You can watch the staff prepare your food if you like, as it is all freshly prepared in front of you. They have a huge notice board by the tills, where you can see the price of everything. They have chairs and tables inside the restaurant and also outside the restaurant or you can choose to take your food away with you. Decoration inside the restaurant is very nice. There are lots of old pictures and advertisements on the walls.
You can also listen to the music in the background whilst you are eating, which makes it even more comfortable! Pity they don't play Iron Maiden or Yngwie Malmsteen, but never mind....hehehe
Prepare for a mouth-watering experience whilst you read the menu. I have listed below the fillings and prices for each signature sub. Which one do you find most tempting? Oh sorry and I forgot to add - No drooling! hehe

You can also have an option to add the following to your sub:
Extra Guacamole: Small 35p Regular 69p Large 99p
Extra Bacon: Small 29p Regular 45p Large 75p
Extra Cheese: Small 19p Regular 35p Large 55p
It’s a pity they don’t have an option where you can choose your own fillings for your sub, like when you order a pizza and you can choose your own 4 toppings! Perhaps this is something they could consider introducing in the future. It would be great if they did! I know what I would have! Double cheese, Bacon, Lettuce and Beef. Mmmm I can taste this right now!!!!!
If you like drinks with your meals then it would be best to buy them from a supermarket or why not try one of their following deals? (Also this works out cheaper because if you buy the drinks on their own, they are very expensive for £1.09 each).
Add a packet of crisps and a regular fountain drink for an extra 99p or Add a packet of crisps and a bottled drink for an extra £1.19
If you have a lot of people to feed, i.e. at a party, a meeting or an army hehe, then why not try one of their Party Subs!
Party Subs are made to order but you must give them warning by ringing them or faxing them first. They can be served full length on boards or sliced and beautifully arranged on serving trays. You can have whichever flavour you like. I don't know if they have an option to get different flavours in one - you know if you can't decide. You would have to ask.
You can get the following sizes at the following prices:
2 Foot Serves 4 – 6 people Price £13.99
4 Foot Serves 6 – 12 people Price £26.99
6 Foot (This is nearly as big as Paul) Serves 12 – 18 people Price £39.99
I wonder how they make these party subs! Would they need more than one person to hold it? I’ve never actually seen one being made, but it would be interesting to watch!
If you go to work and are fed up with having to make your own lunch boxed meals, why don’t you buy one from Quizno’s. They are conveniently packaged for your next office meeting, off site event or just to eat at lunch. You can choose from the following:
Sub Box Price £3.89 Includes your choice of a small sub, a packet of crisps and a chocolate chip cookie
Or
Soup and Sub Box Price £4.49 Includes your choice of a small sub, a hot cup of soup and a chocolate chip cookie
If you are taking your kids along with you then why not treat them to a Quiz Kids Meal!
This includes a choice of a Quiz Kidz Pizza, Turbo Turkey Sub, Whammy Hammy Sub or Tasty Toasted Cheese Sub, plus a Kidz-sized cookie, and a small fountain drink in a plastic cup with a curly Q Straw all for only £2.49.
If you fancy a salad with your sub (though I doubt you will have much room left, so you would perhaps end up taking it home with you), then they have the following:
Italian Chef Salad: Wine cured Genoa salami, pepperoni, capicola, honey cured ham, mozzarella cheese and Italian seasonings for £3.49
Tuna Chef Salad: A delicious blend of tuna salad and Swiss cheese for £2.99
Traditional Chef Salad: Tender roast beef, real turkey breast, honey cured ham, cheddar cheese and Italian seasonings for £3.49
Garden Chef Salad: A meal all by itself for £2.39
All the salads are served on a heaped bed of fresh lettuce, garnished with tomatoes, red onions, black olives and a pepperoncini, then piled high with your favourite selection from the list above and accompanied with your choice of Quizno’s Italian Vinaigrette Dressing or any of their other favourite dressings. Yummy apart from the black olives that is! Also I don't know what a pepperoncini is! Could it be some type of pepper or pepperoni? I will leave that up to you.....
Perhaps you would prefer a soup instead of a salad?
Signature Soups:
There are a choice of flavours such as chicken or tomato etc, which are piping hot and delicious. I tried the chicken flavour and I burnt my mouth. It was so hot and yet so yummy. It had a real lovely flavour of chicken in it. Different from a Heinz can of chicken soup though, but in a lovely way. Also the chicken pieces are bigger from what I can remember. I have only had the chicken soup once though and haven't tried the tomato one. I am not sure what other flavours they do either!
You can buy soups in a cup or a bowl. A bowl is dearer than a cup though, so be warned.
You can also buy chilli. Old fashioned, thick and hearty chilli with kidney beans, tomatoes and lean beef in a mildly spicy sauce. This sounds tempting, except I can't stand kidney beans.
Soups and chilli come with sourdough bread, which is lovely and soft and are baked to perfection in their oven, whether you order it in a bowl or a cup. If you want to eat in then it's best to buy a bowl but if you want to take away it's best to buy a cup. The cup comes with a lid but the bowl doesn't, so I don't fancy your chances of carrying a bowl home in the car.....
They have the normal flavours of Walkers, Walkers Lite crisps or Doritos for 55p or if you buy a Sub you can get a packet for 10p.
I am sure you are all dying to know what desserts they have so I will leave them til last hehe and move onto the drinks!
You can buy the following drinks:
Hot Chocolate (This is yummy, creamy and chocolately, just like the ones you would expect in a restaurant) 99p Tea, Coffee 69p / 99p Cappuccino, Café Latte, Espresso, Macchiato £1.09 Fresh Fruit Juice £1.09 Sparkling Water 79p Still Water 69p Bottled drinks - Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Dr Pepper, Fanta, Lilt, Sprite £1.09 Fountain Drinks – Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta Regular 89p Large £1.09 Extra Large £1.29
As you can see, the drinks prices are slightly more expensive than any other restaurants.
If you buy a hot drink or a fountain drink you order them at the counter and they give you a cup or mug and you use the drinks machines yourself.
AH, so this is the bit you’ve probally all been waiting for!!!!
The desserts mmmmmmmmmmmmmm I’ve tried most of these and they are yummy yummy yummy!!!! They’re quite expensive, but then you can treat yourself! You wont regret it if you have a sweet tooth and love your desserts!
Apple Crumble – Apples and spices with a Dutch apple topping and covered in yummy crumble for £1.59
Very Berry Crumble – A berry medley consisting of Raspberries, Blackberries and Strawberries and covered in yummy crumble for £1.59
Carrot Bundt Cake – An old-fashioned carrot cake with this lovely icing on the top. It is the best dessert I’ve tried in there. It costs £1.59
Chocolate Bundt Cake – Moist and delicious chocolate cake that is supposed to melt in your mouth. It is also covered in chocolate icing. It looks very tempting, but strangely enough I haven’t tried it yet. It costs £1.59
Quizno’s Classic Cookies – These come in many flavours such as chocolate chip or smarties for 79p. I don’t like these much. They are a little on the dry side, but you might like them!
They also do muffins but I’m not sure what flavours they do or how much they are as they have usually been taken by the time I get there!
So if you are fed up with McDonalds, Burger King, KFC or normal sandwiches, try Quizno’s – the place for the tastiest sandwiches in the whole world!!! Also, for all you people out there worried about your weight etc, Quizno's is advertised as a healthy alternative to other fast food e.g. McDonalds and Burger King and inside the restaurant there are signs up giving you information about each filling and how it is good for you.
Also I just thought I'd add this! We went in there one night just before they closed and the cashier said we were the 500th customer that day and gave us a free salad worth £3.49!! :) So I don't know if they do that every day or just certain days! But that was an unexpected extra yummy treat!
