Situated on a quiet side street off Dam Square, The Rho is ideally located for those wishing to have a centralised base from which to view and experience Amsterdam. Close to all the main attractions, Dam Square is a known venue for impromptu funfairs, concerts and the like.
Although guests will appreciate the quiet location at night, on arrival in Dam Square it can be a little difficult to identify on which of the side streets the hotel is located, as Dam Square is usually very busy. If you look for the shop with the giant clog outside, you are heading in the right direction. You can also take a tram in front of Central Station, get out at the first stop. (Tram numbers 4, 9, 16, 24, 25). Tickets cost € 1.00.
The hotel has an impressive reception area - once a theater, built in 1908 in Art-Deco style. There was always a member of staff available on the reception desk, and they were more than happy to assist with directions or general advice on getting around the city.
The layout of the hotel has a few twists and turns, although there is a lift, and the rooms themselves are clean and comfortable. All rooms have private facilities en-suite (shower or bath and toilet), hair-dryer, satellite TV, telephone, safe (free of charge) and fan. Some rooms have a minibar, the other rooms have a fridge.
Breakfast is included in the room rates - there is plenty of space in the dining hall and they offer a full range of usual breakfast fayre. Most importantly the area was clean and the food fresh.
All in all an excellent hotel in an ideal location, and although there is much cheaper accommodation available in Amsterdam, you can also spend a lot more and get a lot less than you will at the Rho. Highly recommended.

You must feel like you have stepped into luxury when you enter the reception area. Can't be many places like that left now. Some good information which you can expand on in the future if you want to. Fionaxx
