The Radisson SAS Waterfront was a great hotel situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, with views of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island and Table Mountain. The hotel was just on the edge of the town centre. Most hotels are located around the Victoria and Alfred waterfront complex and, as such, have particularly steep prices. The Radisson was walking distance to the V&A waterfront but did not suffer from extortionate prices (our room came in at about £70 a night). It had a sizeable car park and was well situated for driving down the coast of Cape Town.

At the time of booking, we were not offered a choice on rooms so ended up with a basic room only. This was fine but we missed out on views of the harbour that could be seen from rooms at the back of the hotel. The room was spacious (approx 36 sq meters) with a king size bed, satellite television, mini bar, free wireless internet, tea & coffee making facilities, a safe, and dressing gowns and slippers. The bathroom was also pretty spacious with a bath and separate shower.

The hotel provided a shuttle bus into town at each hour which was good of an evening if going out to eat. The location of the hotel also meant that taxis back of evening could be had for only a few pounds.

Breakfast was vast and delicious! There was a small hot buffet with the usual fare of sausages, bacon, eggs etc but there was a huge selection of cold cuts, cheeses, bread, pastries, fruit that could have kept me going all morning! Breakfast could be taking inside or out on the patio overlooking the harbour with waiter service for tea and coffee as well as a fresh juice bar

We didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening so cannot comment on this area. We did use the bar in the evening which had a great atmosphere. It's used as a bit of an after-work bar by the local high fliers so was always packed with stylish people and plenty of banter - none of it pretentious, I might add! The served some great cocktails out on the patio, which was again waiter service. Also, as the night started to get a bit cold, waiters brought out blankets for those still sitting outside as well as turning the heating on!

Our only issue came with using the concierge service. We asked to book a meal at a local African restaurant - we had read it was a very busy place and we were desperate to get a table. The guy at reception said he would make the booking and get in touch if there were any problems. You can see where this is going cant you.....there was no booking when we arrived! The restaurant managed to find us a table and we had a great evening but it was very busy and we were lucky they had they space.

The hotel has several conference rooms and ends up with a lot of business visitors. This was fine for myself and my partner but did make the place someone child-unfriendly. Not a family place but perfect for adults.

This place is stylish, yet affordable with a fantastic location to main shopping area and sites such as Table Mountain and the spectacular coast line - would definitely be my choice if visiting again.
