~ Introduction ~
I recently returned from a holiday with my parents. We stayed in this Hotel in Nice, France. We stayed in a Radisson SAS in Amsterdam several years ago but other than remembering that it was a positive experience I don't remember a lot about it so I can't really compare the two. I was looking forward to staying in the hotel and I was pleased it was only 10-15 minutes away from the airport by taxi. My dad booked the hotel (along with the flights) online and he also booked out taxi so it was there waiting to pick us up at the airport. The taxi fare was charged to our hotel bill.
After we landed and got our luggage we head out of the airport to meet the taxi driver. He was standing with a card which had our surname written on and he directed us outside where we had to stand 5-10 minutes before getting in the taxi ...
Advantages: Convenient if you happen to work there. Disadvantages: Er, there's just not much there.
They say the best way to get to know a place is to live there. I lived in New Dhaka for three years so I know a wee bit about what it's like. Although I didn't personally count the inhabitants of Dhaka, I believe there were about 8 million a couple of years ago. Your guess is as good as mine how many there are now.
Like many of the cities which were part of the old British India, (of which Dhaka was one until 1947) this huge sprawling city has its old and new districts. The old, typically, is a mass of narrow alleys, bustling with rickshaws, tuk-tuks, bicycles and all modes of transport. But the whole city is too big for just one op, so I'll just tell you about New Dhaka for now.
The new area consists mainly of the diplomatic enclaves, aid projects and some newer markets. It's clearly divided into three distinct areas.

BOOKING
I booked our stay through hotels.co.uk and was paid upfront which sometimes can make it more difficult on arrival, but no problems here. We got the 5 days for a rate of 490 pounds over the easter break which we felt was really good. We had previously held a room on the website and waited for a cheaper rate to appear on the other sites as they are always cheaper.
CENTRAL LOCATION
The hotel is exceptionally located on the east side of Manhattan. It is quite a nice affluent neighborhood which is around the corner from the Waldorf Astoria on Park Ave and the Palace.
