We loved the Rainforest Cafe, easy to find, Shaftesbury Ave, near Picadilly Circus, look for a shop entrance, as the cafe is downstairs. Clever marketing idea, but a gift on the way in or the way out!

A jungle experience, rainforest trees, creepers, animatronic jungle animals and birds, crocodile infested waters (also animatronic), you go there to have dinner not be dinner! I don't want to give away too much, or it may spoil the adventure if you choose to visit.

We sat at the cocktail bar while waiting for a table. Good range of cocktails (alcoholic and not).

Food was good and not too expensive (look out for money off tokens in tourist leaflets at hotels) the adults had free deserts. I supose the only way I can describe the food is bistro food, steaks and quite a good vegetarian selection, kids meals are pizza, pasta, burger type meals. Check prices, menus, kids menu etc. on www.therainforestcafe.co.uk (sample price £9.95 for kids meal incl main course and desert, kids drink £1.95, adult meals £11.95 - £15.95). Details of how to get there and reduced parking charges are also on their web site.

Special effects were good, but when the lighting goes down and the thunder starts it could be a little scary if you have a sensitive child. Kids loved the elephants.

Service was also good, we did'nt wait long to be seated and served. Very friendly staff.

THIS IS A NON SMOKING RESTAURANT.

I beleive they don't take bookings for weekends and school holiday, tables seem to be allocated on a first come/first served basic. We went on a Friday, about 7pm and we did'nt have to wait long to be seated, but they can be busy at weekends.

I always thought this place seemed much more style over substance, and your review doesn't change my mind because it doesn't talk much about the food. Seems like you certainly pay for the atmosphere, but a bit more description of the actual food would be helpful.

I'm just wondering about sensitive adults!

Hi sorry for the low rating, but there needs to be much more - imagine that you had never been there, what sort of infomation would you like to see. It may be an idea to reead and rate other ops on this site to get an idea of what I mean. It was a good atart though. If you do edit and add to this op, then please let me know. i'll happily re-read/rate it for you. Larry
