Advantages: very individual culture Disadvantages: touts
...begin at 6am, where breakfast ranges from fresh bread and some tea( You havent lived until you try srilanka tea!!) to a mild curry!
Lunch is usually around about 1pm, again a curry although there are more european type menus available if you want in some places.
Dinner is around 6pm, when it gets dark again! Of course this is going to be another curry!
The beauty of a Srilanka curry is that the they are full of taste and are totally unique because all the ingredients are fresh.
trains in srilanka are very cheap, but if you have a journey longer than 30 minutes i would advis going first class, as second class you will be like a sardine and it is very common for pickpokets to be on trains. Train from Kandy to Colombo, a 3 hour journey costs about £1,first class.
Public transport is not recommended at all, it ios extremely cheap...

Some great bargains can be had especially when it comes to clothing. Shops like Odel unlimited and House of Fashion offer great quality original designer clothing (much of it made in Sri Lankan factories) and amzing prices. Other good places to shop are the Majestic City...
