We stayed at the Ramada Treff Baren for 4 nights as part of a tour package and found it to be a clean, modern, comfortable hotel as you would expect from the Ramada chain.
Meals come in the form of a self-service buffet with plenty of choice and excellent quality. The one downside to mealtimes was the potentially long walk from your allocated table to the buffet, in our case out of the room, through the bar then along the full length of the restaurant, then back again, in both directions dodging the other guests going the opposite way. Maybe only full-price guests get to sit near the food.
While this is an excellent base for exploring the Harz Mountains in general, its a bit far out of the centre of Goslar for casually wandering in and out, about 20 minutes walk, mainly uphill, from the centre, though I believe there is an occasional bus. The only facilities near the hotel are a bakery and a garden centre.
The package we were on was good value for such a quality hotel and there are other good deals to be had here, especially out of season.
I'd recommend this hotel to anybody.
