LosAngeles was unfortunately our last stop on our honeymoon tour of the States and we decided that we would need to stay for three nights to take full advantage of seeing UniversalStudios and to have a look around the city.
My husband is a big film fan and when we were looking at where to stay in LA we wanted somewhere near to the Studios, as we had pre-booked our tickets in conjunction with our earlier visit to Sea World in San Diego. We decided that location would definitely take priority over luxury and when we discovered that there was a Holiday Inn in the area, we allowed our travel agent to go ahead with booking it for us.

Getting to this hotel was relatively easy, as Vineland Avenue is situated just off the main 101 Ventura Freeway and Vineland Street is well signposted along ...
Advantages: Large comfortable rooms, good views from rooms Disadvantages: No entertainment, no shuttle service
if they don't have a room in the hotel. In my opinion, it makes you feel slightly unsafe, but all the rooms have spy holes in the doors so that you can check who is outside. But let you children know that they must never open the door without checking with you first.
The hotel didn't run a shuttle service to the Theme Parks, or it didn't when we were there, fortunately this wasn't a problem for us as we had hired a car. However you can always get the trolley bus that runs the length of International Drive and will take you to Seaworld, Wet n Wild (you could walk there its only 5 minutes away) and UniversalStudios. Disneyworld is an approximately 15 minutes away by car.
All in all this hotel would be fine for a couple without children, but if you have children you would be better suited staying in a hotel like the Holiday Inn ...

Advantages: so many different rides and entertainment there is something for everyone. Disadvantages: i couldn't fault the place!
This summer we went to LA and stayed in Anaheim near Disneyland, but chose to go to UniversalStudio's instead of Disney because im a huge film fan.
We booked our tickets online beforehand and not only did we save money about $10 each (usual price is around $59.99) but we bypassed the queues at the gate aswell!
We went on a Thursday so the park opened at 10 a.m ( 9 a.m - 9 p.m weekends, 10 a.m - 6 p.m weekdays) we set out early because you can guarentee traffic queues in LA. We drove North from Anaheim on the Santa Ana freeway (5) until we hit downtown LA then we got onto the Hollywood freeway (101) signposted universalstudio's all the way from there.
We arrived at the entrance and chose the free parking which is slightly further away than the paid parking but it was a nice day and we had plenty of time so we didnt mind ...
