Having just returned from what I class as a well deserved break I thought I would write about the Hotel me and my family have just returned from. I decided at the last minute really that I would book us a weekend away and began to surf the net as you do looking for not only a bargain but a nice place to stay to boot.
The place I eventually chose with the help of my fiancé was the Ramada Jarvis hotel in Brighton, I have never stayed in a hotel in Brighton before having only visited once previously and having stayed in a bed and breakfast so I cannot compare it to other hotels in the Brighton area but I can compare it to other hotels throughout Britain and indeed Europe as I am fairly well travelled.
The first thing of note with this hotel is that it has a modern look without losing any grandeur, I often find modern hotels look modern but not too Attractive. The
Ramada Jarvis was every bit as attractive as the old prestigious hotels dotted around it but with a real up to date look and indeed feel to it.
It is situated in a very nice location, very close to the many winding lanes and pathways that are simply alive with beautiful boutiques and equally close to the famous pebble beach where if weather permits as it did for us you can spend a very leisurely afternoon.
The hotel has 123 rooms in total all of which have internet access which is a thing I always look for when booking a hotel so I can keep an eye on work and also log in to my Dooyoo and Ciao of course. We booked a room with a sea view and the room and the view were lovely. The room was a mixture of modern styling and appliances with just a touch of antique decor to give it that warm homely feel.
Both the king size bed that my fiancé and I shared and the kid's beds were very comfortable and the entire room was very clean and looked to have been recently decorated. It gave us exactly what we were looking for which was a comfortable stay and a very relaxed atmosphere.
The rest of the hotel was equally clean and comfortable with a lovely air conditioned bar and restaurant where foods and drinks were served at reasonable prices, we had booked all inclusive so all of our meals were free but we did snack in the bar too and the sandwiches and other things we had were excellent and not too expensive.
As kids were welcome in the bar of an evening we spent a few hours there on the Saturday night relaxing to a nice band and having a fair bit to drink, My fiancé on white wine at £2.80 for a large glass and me on lager at £2.70 a pint.
There is an explosive night life not far from the hotel but as we had the kids with us that was not for us this time but we could get a good view from our room of all the comings and goings of the people out on the town and it would seem a very good time being had by all, perhaps when I stay the next time and there will be a next time, the kids will be left at home.
There is limited parking at the hotel and we were lucky enough to be able to book a parking space which came at a cost (£12 for the weekend) but if we had not had the space it would not have been the end of the world because there are large NCP car parks very close by.
The average price of a stay here appears to be around £40 per person per night but the package deal I booked was for a family of four for three nights all inclusive and including parking, the whole thing cost me £389 which I was very pleased with.
As well as the hotel being very clean and comfortable it is also very well staffed and that can make a hotel stay very pleasurable too. There is nothing worse than dealing with unpleasant and unhelpful staff when you are trying to relax and enjoy a break from home. I found every member of the staff that I had to deal with from the girl on check in right through to the maids very helpful and always with a smile on their faces. The bar staff too were very friendly and always had time for a chat and the same went for the waiters and waitresses at lunch and evening meals.
The food served to us for our lunches and evening meals was of very high standard even though a bit more of it might have been nice. The menus were fairly extensive and there was a good few options for vegetarians too. The kids menu was almost as large as the full menu giving my kids an excellent choice of foods which a lot of other hotels fail to do.
Overall I had a great weekend at this hotel and will definitely return and I would be happy to recommend it to others whether they be planning to go as a family or just as a couple, the hotel can cater for whatever your needs.
RATINGS
Location - 10/10 (there could not be a better spot to put this hotel on)
Service - 10/10 (I honestly could not fault the service in any way)
The room - 8/10 (I have stayed in better but for the price it was wonderful)
The food - 8/10 (there was only one problem with the food and that was the small portions)
The staff - 10/10 (a very impressive staff throughout the whole hotel)
Value for money - 10/10 (the best £389 I have spent in a while)
If Brighton is your destination then I would recommend you seriously check out this hotel, I cannot imagine there can be many better on offer and certainly not at the prices available for the rooms. You are close to everything from the antique shops, pavement cafes and pleasure pier to the night clubs and high street bars so no matter what you are looking to do through your holiday this is the hotel to do it from in my opinion.
Ive never been to brighton, i passed up the opportunity this weekend, but i plan to go one day!

Ah, Brighton. The rich man's Scarborough. Never been, myself, what with being a poor student and all, but this is the hotel I'll look out for if ever I stumble upon some money.
