My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights recently, here is my review:
Cleanliness: Room and rest of the hotel was not only clean but literally sparkling, its just a shame that the carpets upstairs seemed old, out of fashion and grubby although they were hoovered, it would be nice to see modern fresh carpets there one day to compliment the rest of the hotel.
Room: Spotless everywhere, the bathroom was sparkling, the bed consisted of a crisp white duvet and not sheets & wool blanket which you get in some places! Extra pillows and towels stored away, tea & coffee including decaf and herbal, nice! Not exactly a wardrobe but a space in the wall to hang 4 or 5 items, iron/board, widescreen TV with internet, keyboard, telephone, movies, quality hair dryer was so good i had to jot down the name of it to buy for myself! Unpleasant view of the backs of other buildings where bins are kept etc unfortunately and window was only able to be opened a tiny bit, plenty hot water, budget toiletries supplied, the type i wouldnt bother using myself personally,
Staff: Some were friendly, some were really not, its as if they havent been trained therefor its down to their personality. The room attendants parked their trolleys right outside our room and proceeded to talk loudly for a good hour depsite the fact we had a 'do not disturb' sign on our door and were trying to sleep, again this came across like a lack of training. Best staff moments were being given a free movie from the receptionist when we checked in and the night porter making friendly chat when we rolled in very drunk at 3am and asked for extra milk for our room, he gave me a handful and was very helpful. Worst staff moments were breakfast waitress #1: Sulking, no good morning, no smile, and breakfast waitresses #2: sniggering and whispering while gesturing at our table.
Breakfast: Very generous consisting of all the usual 'full scottish' cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit juices, teas, coffees, toast, freshly prepared fruit, yoghurts, pastries, muffins, and 'todays special' which was waffles with maple syrup, all offered on a help yourself buffet, we were very satisfied and the food was all lovely!
Location: You couldnt get a better location than this, I grew up in Scotland so know Glasgow well and couldnt have wished for a better spot for shopping and sight seeing!
Cost: We paid £140, double for two nights inc breakfast and free movie.
