++++++++++Location++++++++++ The Jarvis is located pretty much in the centre of Perth, so has good access to the bars and restaurants. Near to the hotel are the following bars The Foundry, The Sandeman, and Sportsters, also near is the local cinema if you want to catch a film. As for restaurants is it not too far to walk to Dos Amigos (Mexican) or Pacos (American/Italian).
Being in the town does make parking a bit difficult but the hotel has parking for around 10 cars outside the hotel and has a small private car park across the road, this will probably take about 20 cars as well.
++++++++++Formalities++++++++++ My room was booked through my companies travel department so I don't know the cost of the room but through the Ramada Jarvis website www.ramadajarvis.co.uk a double room is about £75 per night for bed and breakfast. Check in was painless taking no more than 5 minutes with the requisite forms to be completed with contact details.
Checking out again for me was painless as my room was being billed back to my company and there were no extras to be added to the bill, so again only took about 5 minutes.
++++++++++Room++++++++++ The room I had was of average size for a double and as with most hotel rooms these days in need of a quick redecoration, especially the bathroom. The facilities in room were a kettle for making tea/coffee and all the kit, a phone, TV with some satellite channels and pay per view movies, and a radio alarm clock. One thing I did find a bit annoying with my room was that the window was not double glazed so I could hear the lads on the way home from the night club, which is always a bonus of staying in the city. The room was serviced and cleaned every day as you would expect.
The bed was quite soft but only a double I am used to a king, with sheets rather than a quilt, but I managed to get a good nights sleep even though I am probably one of the lightest sleepers going.
++++++++++Bar and Resturant++++++++++ The hotel is built in a 15th century water mill, this provides a talking point in the bar and reception areas as there are a couple of portholes that allow you to look down through the floor to the fast flowing river below, quite a good thing to have a beer looking at in the evening. The bar is fairly spacious with a number of sofas to relax on having a drink with other guests at the hotel. The bar prices are fairly reasonable, especially for a hotel, about £2.50 for a pint of Fosters. You can choose to eat at the bar or in the Arts restaurant, the bar menu has all the standard things you would expect, sandwiches (£4.25 - £5.25), burger (£9.25), pasta (£8.95) and many others.
Although I didn't have an evening meal in the Arts restaurant, it is also used for breakfast service in the morning so I managed to have a look inside. The restaurant is in keeping with the rest of the hotel with old oak beams supporting the ceiling. The evening menu looked reasonable for a hotel restaurant. The breakfast service is of the help yourself type where you can choose anything from a cooked breakfast to yoghurt and fruit, you can also go back as many times as you wish.
The public areas also have BT Openzone so you can get a broadband connection through your wireless LAN card. I couldn't get a connection in my room as I was too far away from the access point I found this a bit annoying as I really wanted to use my laptop in my room not in the bar!
++++++++++Opinion++++++++++ On the whole the Ramada in Perth has a good location and is what you would expect from a mid range hotel. My room was fine and clean but would have benefited from a bit of redecoration, I also found the fact that the room windows were not double glazed a bit annoying.
I would recommend the hotel as a place to stay if you are prepared to pay £75 per night, but I am sure better value hotels can be found in Perth.

Good review. Have stayed in this hotel. It was lovely but the parking put me off. I was driving quite a large car at the time and found it very difficult to park in the smaller car park as the spaces are quite narrow. N.x
