...GATE BRIDGE
The golden gate way and the symbol of SanFrancisco. Take 2 buses from downtown SF (bus 30 and bus 28) and you will end up at the bridge. No visit to the city is complete without walking this national land mark. The bridge is 1.5 miles in total length so to walk there and back is a mere 3 miles. There is a visitor’s centre and gift shop, plus a kiosk selling coffee and snacks. The bus will drop you off outside the kiosk and you are free to walk the bridge. There are great photo opportunities and a monument to the engineer who had the foresight to build such a spectacle, Joseph Strauss.
It took us about an hour in total to walk the bridge – but this included photo stops and a walk and sit down in the view area at the Marin County end of the bridge. Some opted to bike the bridge – hire bikes down by the wharf and bike...

Advantages: Too many to mention Disadvantages: Certain areas are definitely 'no go'
...In the words of the song - 'I left my heart in SanFrancisco'

A lot has been written about the city, but you really have to see it for yourself to breathe in the atmosphere - Chinatown, the cable cars, Alcatraz etc etc. There are plenty of hotels/motels to suit everyone's wallet, but I would recommend staying in the Union Square vicinity, though understandably, the accomodation is a little more expensive. The benefits are, however, that everything is virtually on your doorstep. Personally, I would not hire a car whilst I am in the city - driving up those hills is an absolute nightmare and you are likely to be 'cut up' by the cable cars. As with any other city, there are 'no go' areas and these should be avoided, particularly...

Advantages: Amazing city, friendly people and so much to see. Disadvantages: That I couldn't have stayed longer!
...SanFrancisco is a wonderful city, with everything you expect and more from such a well-known cosmopolitan city.
I was extremely lucky enough to visit during the Easter holidays, and went on a tour starting in SanFrancisco, to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. It was an amazing experience, and I am so grateful that I had the chance to visit these amazing cities. Out of the 3, I think SanFrancisco was my favourite, what with it being the most amazingly relaxed city, and getting the right balance between keeping it's history and original charm, and introducing a modern element, with so much to see and do.
I didn't go to sleep the night I was leaving Swansea, at 2 in the morning. I was going to get the bus to Heathrow airport. We flew with British Airways direct to SanFrancisco, and despite the plane journey being somewhat of a nightmare...

Joe Satriani is considered by many as one of the greatest guitarists to have ever lived. He manages to combine technical brilliance with melody to produce some excellent and powerful songs. He plays a good rock song too.
