Living in LIVINGSTON

Advantages: I live there
Disadvantages: That's an advantage?

pubs and restaurants to choose from. Personally, I like my pubs old fashioned which, strange as it seems, is not a problem even though I live in a town that is so young. I live a stone's throw from the River Almond and it's a 15-20 minute walk through the park to the Livingston Inn to the west, or Mid Calder, which is equidistant to the east. Mid Calder has a selection of pubs and the newest of these must be well over 200 years old. There are a few hotels in the town such as: Ramada Jarvis, Travel Inn and Holiday Inn Express; as well as some smaller private hotels such as: The Livi Inn and Da Vinci's. If you're looking for somethin a little more upmarket, Houston House is a bit special, although it's just outside the town boundary at Uphall. There's also the Dalmahoy Country Club a couple of miles east of Mid Calder. The only ...

Livingstone - Zambia

Advantages: interesting with a huge amount of activities
Disadvantages: can be unwise to go out at night.

If travelling to Zambia it is well worth your while to go down to livingstone. Buses travel very regularly from lusaka and many other places for a fare fee (around $20/k100000). The journey takes about 6 hours. Obviously the main attraction is Victoria Falls, and when going I highly recommend picking up a guide and walking about the falls and visiting the 'Angel's Armchair'. This is a once in a lifetime experience and one in which you can go right to the edge of the falls and look into the famous 'mosi-o-tunya'. To get around while there there is a plentiful supply of taxis and you shuold not pay more than K30000 (one-way) to get to and from the falls Livingstone offers a diverse nightlife (by Zambian standards, which is pretty poor if your used to Westernized going out) but there are many bars with music that will go on till the very ...

Review of Livingstone (Zambia)

Hotel Livingston I presume

Advantages: Nice breakfast, excellent price
Disadvantages: In the middle of no-where, no bath, wardrobe or drawers

We needed a cheap hotel to stay in whilst visiting Livingston (near Edinburgh) for a wedding recently, and one of the hotels on the list we were given was a Holiday Inn Express. I was very impressed with the one we stayed in for KarenUK?s wedding in Bristol (incidentally the venue for the Bristol meeting in June), so I decided to book 3 nights. Whilst on the phone I also registered for their ?Priority Club?, which gave me a few benefits (more on this later). So what did we get for our money? ?? LOCATION ?? Well, despite calling itself Holiday Inn Livingston, it is actually about 5 miles from Livingston, so if you want to be near the town itself, you would be better off with the Travel Inn. It is actually nearer to a smaller town called Bathgate, but still not actually in it. The hotel is about 15 miles from Edinburgh airport ...
