Our second honey was going to be one to remember. I was gobsmacked walking through the revolving doors into the Ramada Plaza & Inn - New Yorker Hotel, New York City. We had expected something quite shabby as it was a last minute deal through expedia.co.uk whilst sitting in Manchester Airport waiting for our flight to arrive. (Talk about last minute).

The hotel can arrange airport transfers in the form of a limousine service, they cover JFK Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Newark and LGA. The cars range from a comfortable 4 seater limousine to an overside SUV limousine. Of course this is at a price, it ranges from $65.00 to $110.00 (£35.00/40.00 to £60.00/70.00) not too expensive they will display your name on a board, taking the hassle out of waiting for taxi's.

We arrived quite late at night, the Lobby was immaculately clean, staff were well presented and very helpful. We were showed up to our room and left to settle in. The room was quite basic to be honest but was neat, tidy and clean, included was a desk and chair, hair dryer, iron and board and cable TV, erything we would need after a long day of sightseeing.

After two nights of getting woken up at about 3am by radiators clunking we went down the reception staff and asked if they could turn our radiator off in a bid to get a full nights sleep. They did more than that, they transferred us to the 20th Floor and into a new room (A Suite none the less), Bedroom, Living Room and 2 bathrooms with amazing views of the Empire State Building. Needless to say we didn't have any problems with radiators up there.

The hotels situation 8th Avenue and is within easy walking distance to all major attractions including Madison Square Gardens, Empire State Building, Times Square and Central Park. The hotel is in the Garment District which has excellent shops like Macy's and Bloomingdales. With a range of rooms to suit everyones budget, starting with Metro Rooms, Suites and Tower Rooms. In total the hotel has 912 rooms. I would definately recommend a City View Room, of an evening the empire state building is illuminated and the colours keep changing, it truly is breathtaking. Even more so when you see how high up you are.

The hotel has 2 restaurants on site the Tick Tock Diner and Coopers Tavern. The Tick Tock Tavern has a 50's theme and it really was like stepping back in time. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it (you could quite easily pile on the pounds here), a bonus is that they are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and will quite happily do roomservice (i had to order ham and egg's at least once in the room).

In the main lobby, near reception they have a concierge service where you can purchase tickets for double decker bus tours, sightseeing trips to the statue of liberty, empire state building and harbour cruises. You can also book Airport Transfers and Theater/Broadway tickets.

If you are going away for business then this hotel can definately meet all your requirements with 14 meeting and conference rooms, internet access available they also have certain rooms available for presentations.

Underground the lobby of the hotel they have a launderette facility, which again was kept clean and to a high standard, a word of advice though it can get quite warm down there.

I would definately stay there again if we were to return to New York.
