Royal connections but not that luxurious -Durham Marriott hotel

Advantages: Comfortable, convenient for city sight seeing
Disadvantages: luke warm bath water and average food in restaurant

Durham Marriot Hotel Royal County Old Elvert, Durham DH1 3JN A BIT OF SCENE SETTING: This hotel is part of the Marriott chain but is an old hotel which was once the home of Elizabeth Bowes an ancestor of the Queen Mother. Apparently it was often visited when it was privately owned by Edward VII when he was up in Durham. It has had quite a large series of extensions and now boasts 150 bedrooms, some of which are suites and family rooms all and have en suite bathrooms ( As you might expect in a hotel I would have thought). This is a four star hotel right in the centre of Durham so perfect for a city break as you can park your car in the hotel (complimentary) car park and walk round the city which is very compact and just a hop over the road from the hotel. We booked on the internet and got a special deal for two night?s bed ...

Hollins Hall for a pleasant stay!

Advantages: *
Disadvantages: *

from York. There is wireless internet access in the hotel but we didn?t use it as it was £6.50 per hour (or £15 for 12 hours) so for how long we were staying we didn?t think it was worth it even though I had my laptop with me. There are also 2 computers with internet access in the reception area and this starts from £3 for 15 minutes. The hotel seems to be a popular location for weddings as we saw 4 wedding parties in the 3 days we were there. I can see why though, as the hotel is set in beautiful grounds. Overall I thought this was a lovely hotel but we found that it is not as good as the Marriott?s outside of the UK. However, I would definitely still recommend this hotel as we all had a pleasant stay. Buckatree Hall Hotel

Advantages: In a remote scenic area, lots of facilites
Disadvantages: slightly expensive but still worth it

Buckatree Hall Hotel - Telford Shropshire The hotel stated above is part of the Swallow Hotels chain, not like your average chain hotel this one is stunning my other half and I stayed there a couple of times going back after the first visit as we enjoyed it so much. It is a 2 star hotel but I believe it is well worth of more, it has 62 rooms catering for all needs and being very family friendly, they have single rooms, double rooms and family rooms and where possible will arrange and room to suit your individual needs. Buckatree Hall Hotel is situated just off the M54 in a remote location down a few back roads, it has a peaceful quiet surrounding area which puts you in the mood for your relaxing break away. There are several tourist attractions not far via car journey such as, Telford Shopping Centre, Park, Bowling Ally, Ice ...
