The food at Rasa is blissful. Indian cuisine of a different stripe to any other I've encountered, pressing all the buttons for a carnivore playing at being a vegetarian. The owner Das Sreedharan and his wife Alison are charming and amiable ambassadors for Das's native Kerala. And the food is such good value!
So what is it like? The key word is subtle. Is it spicy?
Well yes, but in the sense of using spices to stimulate the palate.
Is it hot?
... ...you will be disappointed. It is not classic curry house fare, much though I love that.
Nor yet does it remotely resemble the modern and frequently excellent wave of 'genuine' Indian cooking, mostly based on meat and fish.
Surprisingly, it is not very similar to South Indian vegetarian food as normally found in Britain, (although Das began his London cooking career in a bhelpoori restaurant and there are dishes common to both). So far all I've said ...

For my sister's 21 birthday my family and I went to the restaurant known as Rasa. I was not sure about having 'proper' indian food, becasue all I had before was curries and the suchlike. I was surprised.
Food-The food was outstanding. My taste budds were fizzing with all the flavour that I was introduced to. Mainly for the maincourses there are vegetable curries consisting of potato, aubergine, beans. Also, infuseed with these are many spices. THE ... ...who are not keen on very spicy food, perhaps try somewhere else. Atmosphere-The restaurant was generally dark, but full of apparently Indian related artifacts on the wall. In the backgroung is the light ethnic music playing, charming everyone into a deep sleep. True, it was rather compact, it was still great
