Advantages: nice rooms, great bar and restaurant Disadvantages: quite pricey
The white hart hotel is situated opposite Kingston bridge on the Hampton wick side of the river. The hotel opened in 2001 and is said to be 'the most attractive hotel in the Kinston area,' although it was only rated three stars by the English regional tourist board. From what I made of the hotel when I stayed there I would rate it at four stars. The rooms are furnished in an old style but to a high standard, there is a lovely secluded courtyard area at the rear of the hotel and there is free parking for guests. The car park is also situated at the rear of the hotel and is barrier operated, so you're car is relatively safe. At the front of the hotel there is a pub and restaurant, which is open daily both to guests and non-guests. These are traditional in style and offer some nice drinks and have an excellent food menu. Advantages: Truly magnificent views of Whitsundays. Handy base for exploring other islands by ferry. Disadvantages: Could be considered impersonal - high rise resort style holiday.
Reef View hotel, Hamilton Island offers magnificent views of the Whitsundays. Travellers tip is to stay on the upper floors - These are the Coral sea rooms it's much quieter, and the views are better. It's worth paying a little more to do this. Lower floors - known as Garden View - (especially near the night club/bar) tend to be a bit noisy from my experience.
MY EXPERIENCE AT REEF VIEW
I stayed here earlier this year (2008), found the rooms spacious, clean and comfortable. I paid $290 (Australian) per night toom rate (approx 118 pounds) - a rate which included full buffet breakfast daily. They also gave me a free day cruise out to the Barrier Reef which was a highlight. Also had full use of all resort facilities, non-motorised watersports, catamarans etc. Worthy of note - be careful of stingers (venemous jellyfish) at certain ...
Advantages: Excellent Central Location, Superb Meal Disadvantages: Limited private parking
We used this hotel a week ago for a friend's Hen Day. She booked a Spa package through a third party provider, and it was this hotel that they sent us to. As the Renaissance is a small chain owned by Marriott Hotels, we were looking forward to a good night away.
A friend and I drove to Reading which neither of us are greatly familiar with. We took the directions from the hotel website, and followed these to reach the hotel, and unfortunately found them to be pretty poor. We got lost with the directions as we found that they missed out a couple of junctions - and we were proved not to be the problem as the other group also got lost on their way to the hotel.
Upon arrival, we headed for the hotel car park, only to be put off by a notice on the car park sign instructing us that we should report to reception first. We turned ...
