There are nice beaches in town in Recife and it can be very hot since it is in the North-East of Brazil. A nice place to stay, not too expensive, around $30 for a double, is the Hotel Central in Rua Manuel Borba 209. This is a colonial building. There are a lot of local bands of music in Recife, and some of them became famous in all Brazil, for example Nacao Zumbi, where Chico Science used to play before dying in a car accident. You should go to the Gracas district for some good nightlife, good music and cheap bars.
Saquarema. Although I am not Brazilian, I know Brazil extremely well. When I saw Saquarema on this website, out of curiosity, I send some emails to my friends in Brazil. Here is what I gathered from the locals. Saquarema is a bit of an ecologic area. Polluting activities are forbidden both inland and in the sea in that area. The main attractions are, clearly, nature. You can visit the plantations of fruits inland, or you can go to the beach, which ...

Olinda is a magic city. Situated in the North-East of Brazil, this still medium-size village is full of remains of its glorious colonial past. The best time to go there is during Carnival. It is virtually impossible to find accommodation during this period unless you book months in advance or know someone of the locals. When I went there, I was lucky enough to stay with some friends, if you are not in the same situation, Recife is not too far away, there are frequent bus shuttles and you may be luckier to find accommodation there. The Carnival is crazy. 5 days of revellery, and, differently from other cities in Brazil, there are not too many people from the favelas around and you feel really safe, plus a lot of local babes scantly dressed and in the mood for good fun, not like here in London!! Everyone is friendly and just want to enjoy ...

There was absolutely no doubt! Gunshots! My God they are starting a revolution. They were shooting all night and people were screaming and shouting. That was our first night i Rio and we knew it wasn't the carneval.
Leaving the room wasn't easy but it had to be done sooner or later. There was still quite a lot of noise in the streets so I wasn't feeling to good about the whole situation. I went down to the reception and tried to ask about the 'revolution'.
The guy was really upset, which I interpreted as if our assumptions about the revolution were right.
But no it was all about 'Footeball and Carneval'. Apparently Rio had lost an important match against Recife. And the fans form Recife were running around in the streets partying or basically humiliating the losers - RIO.
This went or for about three days.
Our plan was to go ...

Advantages: BEAUTIFUL,, FRIENDLY, CHEAP Disadvantages: SOMETIMES CRAMPT..
I am Brazilian so I am sorry if this short piece about Brazil is a little biased. I am writing it to say that Brazil is a really, really great country. I know that the country has had an awful lot of economic problems and crime problems in the past - let me just say that a lot of the little things that annoyED me about Brazil have gone.
The city of Rio de Janeiro is simply beautiful - it is such a charming AND friendly place. The streets are clean and the air is clean and the people are always willing to help and give advice to a traveller. There are lots of things that will keep you occupied whilst in Rio as well as the rest of the country. I also reccommend Sao Paulo and Recife for fun!!! ...
