Anyhows, here is my last experience with Record Rent a ... ...car rentals are. The Record stand only had a queue of 2/3 people, whilst others such as Avis had a queue of 10/15 deep! The staff at the stand were most helpful and as our Ford Ka was not ready for pick up they had already organised us a free upgrade! We were now getting a Peugot 307!. After signing a few forms and paying for the car, off we were in the 307 to the villa!

Anyhows, here is my last experience with Record Rent a Car!
I decided to go for a short break (5 days) to the Costa Del Sol to stay at my parents villa. My first port of call was a website named 'carjet.co.uk' - a websiteI have used in the past and have always been very reasonably priced.
I opted for a pickup from Malaga and drop off in Malaga. as there was only 2 of us we decided on a Compact car with Air Conditioning. The Ford Ka was priced at 105 Euros so we went for that.
On arrival at Malaga, we went downstairs to where the car rentals are. The Record stand only had a queue of 2/3 people, whilst others such as Avis had a queue of 10/15 deep! The staff at the stand were most helpful and as our Ford Ka was not ready for pick up they had already organised us a free upgrade! We were now getting a Peugot 307!. After signing a few forms and paying for the car, off we were in the 307 to the villa!
Drop off was really easy, all we needed to do was to fill the car with petrol and pass the keys through to the staff at departures (the car had to be parked in a Record Rent a Car bay).
So that was that, overall - the service was great, free upgrade and very helpful staff. I highly recommend this company especially if you would like to skip the queues!

P.S - no prices are quoted as I believe that prioces change throughout the year. Also I believe that Record Rent a Car only operate in Spain.

All the hire seats are left outside the pickup point carpark cabin. They all were damaged and had a missing safety clip that stops the belt from coming loose especially since the seats did not fit the car we had. DO NOT book a record rent-a-car on the Balearics... I had a holiday on Ibiza and hired a car for 2 weeks with Record. I was a little worried when I first arrived as the car was delivered to the airport with a woman holding a clipboard. They have no set booth. My fears soon disappeared when i got in the car (a Peogeot 206) and found it to be clean and in good condition. However after just 3 days of driving the car would not start. Fortunately we were ... ...already been taken away by Record and nobody had any idea where it was. The upshot of this is that we lost the use of the car for the rest of our holiday (ten days in total) with no replacement at all. Nobody could help us. It turns out record have no offices on Ibiza and ship the cars from the mainland. Made our Holiday a nightmare... ...

...at Alicante and have found Record Car Hire to be best of the companies I have used. Cars have been clean and well maintained. Staff helpful and able to speak reasonable English - Essential for the none Spanish speakers amongst us.
Their Office is within the warmth of the Airport building, at the bottem of the ramp down from arrivals. Cars are collected from the far side of the Car Park area, a short two minute walk and although quite easy to find, ... ...case.
The major plus abour Record is they state on the registration forms how much petrol / diesel there is the car and only require that there is at least the same amount in when returning the vehicle.
There are other car hire suppliers who at first glance appear to be cheaper, but who charge you for a full tank of fuel and tell you to return the vehicle empty. This is not the case with Record. ...

...car via the internet with Record Car Rentals. We waited over an hour at the airport for someone to collect us. When the Record employee arrived she refused to acknowledge that she was over an hour late. We were then squeezed on to a minibus and told to duck if we saw the police!). We queued for over an hour and were told that we had not prepaid (depsite having printouts clearly showing we had). The staff would not accept our printoffs and simply ... ...(at 10pm stuck in the middle of nowhere!). They did not contact us as promised and didnot answer their phone. However, when we dropped off the car we were told that a refund had been put into our account. No apology!! Other customers also seemed to have different problems. FOUND THESE TO BE THE CHEAPEST CAR HIRE IN SPAIN. I'VE ONLY DEALT WITH THIS COMPANY ON CAR HIRE WHEN EVER I GO ABROAD, THEY GIVE A EXCELLENT SERVICE AT ALL TIMES. THERE IS NO PROBLEMS WHEN YOU GET TO THE CHECK IN DESK ALL YOU DO IS PRODUCE YOUR DRIVING LICENCE, PASSPORT THEN SIGN ONE FORM, PAY BY CREDIT CARD, SIMPLE AS THAT. I WOULD NOT USE ANY OTHER COMPANY. the car, I had to pay for a tank of fuel which was also dirt cheap. I then had to take the car back empty.

Advantages: many destinations, fabulous website Disadvantages: really expensive
They work as the others, nothing special. In many locations they have their own offices, but in Spain, they only work as a broker. They take your booking, you have to pay in advance, and they send your booking to a provider such Europa rent a Car or Record.
I have been comparing prices, with the nexts dates:
Car Group Ford Ka 3 doors aircon, from 14.02.05 to 21.02.05, with full insurance and no excess.
Sixt.de: The web is really good, nice and fast. The price for the week is 139 euros. You have to pay with credit card trought the web site. If not, you can not make the booking.
Cancellation costs: yes, the amount depends of when do you cancell it. You can avoid the cancellation costs paying 5 euros more on the moment that you make the booking.
