This place combines good traditional Latvian food, some international dishes, good home-made Latvian beer, good atmosphere and lots of fun!
Recreation Center ... ...would recommend you to try Lido Medalus (Mead). It is very popular and tasty. And guess what, Lido beer is one of the famous in Latvia!
On the first floor, there is a bistro with buffet of about 500 dishes, juice bar, pastry shop, ATM and TV screen. For a drink, my choice lies at kvass, which is made from fermented rye bread and yeast. And for dessert - Maizes zupa - rye bread with fruits and topped with wiped cream - scrumptious! more

Recreation Center LIDO was opened in 1999. In 2001, it was expanded with the amusement park, which was completely finished in 2003 with opening an open air ice-rink. Ice-rink becomes an open air roller-skating-rink for the summer season and offers ice- and roller-skates rental. According to the official site, movement was made to strengthen the concept of family leisure place. The main building is one of the biggest log buildings in Europe with a windmill decorating it and has 1000 sits. The building has been constructed of more than 100 years old Latvian fir-trees.
The catering complex has three floors full of drinks and food! On the ground floor, is the beer cellar with traditional beer and food, mini-brewery, live music in the evenings and even dancing, children playroom and why not - TV screen! Try some grey peas with fried bacon - this is traditional Latvian meal! My father loves it and eats it when he gets a chance. It my sound a bit weird, but trust me, it is delicious. For the beer-choice, I would recommend you to try Lido Medalus (Mead). It is very popular and tasty. And guess what, Lido beer is one of the famous in Latvia!

On the second floor, there is the restaurant, is opened for celebrations or table service with menus and waiters. It is more sophisticated and has a romantic atmosphere.
Amusement park has 11 different attractions: shooting-ground, tower, cannon room, rodeo, children's town, sky dive, car rental, sky glider carousel, eurobungy, hippodrome and driving school. Driving school offers "proper" cars and roads with traffic lights and signs.
Lido ice-rink is a very popular among local residents. It has lights, it has music, and it has slopes! You may even meet some fairy tale characters skating along - that is local entertainment. You can get there using one of the trams nr. 3 , 7 , 9 towards "Tirdznecibas centrs DOLE" and get off at "Atputas centrs Lido". Pretty easy and fun while you discovering trams!
Advantages: Lots to do and see, snow in the winter, fairly cheap to eat/drink, cheap flights available from RyanAir. Disadvantages: Very very very very cold in the winter, Things are Difficult to Find.

The biggest and the best Lido in Riga is the 'LidoRecreationCentre'. You will have to catch a bus or get a taxi to 'LidoRecreationCentre'. It is about 15 minutes taxi drive from 'Old Town' Riga. It has a lot of choice and you can find pizza, pasta, chicken and other types of meat, fish, potatoes, salads, soups, freshly squeezed fruit juices, and delicious little puddings.
We also went to a Lido in new town Riga at around 10am one day and found porridge, toast, cooked breakfast, pork belly, and pancakes etc. Out of all the Lido's however I would definately recommend the 'LidoRecreationCentre'. There is an outdoor ice rink there so you can go skating before or after you eat, and the choice is much larger than the other Lido's you will find in Riga. In all the Lido's you will find ...
