Haven for Waterbirds and People

Advantages: Lovely Park. Beautifully Maintained. Good Facilities
Disadvantages: Does get busy

London has a marvellous selection of parks ranging from the likes of the hugely popular and internationally famous Hyde Park, nearby Kensington Gardens, serene Green Park, St James's Park, the oldest in London, liitle parks in various parts of Central London, Richmond park,Syon Park, and the lovely Regents Park. This wide expanse of parkland and gardens is quite remarkable for such a major urban area. It is ever so easy to forget that you are in the ...
...place like Regents Park, which was once part of King HenryVIII's hunting forest in the 16 th century.

Regents Park is centrally located in a very attractive part of Central London and is close to a variety of other world class attractions such as London Zoo, Madame Tussauds, the Planetarium, and the Sherlock Holmes Museum. The nearest underground station to the park is Baker Street and plenty of buses ply the route from the West End.

Family Friendly

Londons finest

Advantages: Beautiful park, well maintained, numerous facilities.
Disadvantages: Cafes slightly expensive, films etc very expensive

I had to organise an event at Regents Park recently which meant many, many planning visits!! I must now be qualified as a Park guide! The standards throughout the park are excellent, from the lawns and wonderful floral displays to the many cafes, all well maintained by friendly, helpful staff. Its a great day our for all the family with lots to occupy you. Feeding the ducks and the very cheeky tame squirrels provides hours of entertainment, there ...
...bandstand, the open air theatre, children's playgrounds, the heron island and of course the beautiful flowers - there are often special events advertised throughout the park or details from the main park office in the Inner Circle. We were lucky enough to be in the Queen Marys Rose gardens which as it sounds has the most gorgeous display of roses you could imagine with hundreds if not thousands of fragrant roses (yes they actually do have a fragrance ...

A ideal place

Advantages: Wonderful place
Disadvantages: The rain which can't be helped!!!!

A glorious way to spend a summer afternoon with something for everyone. Seems to be the tourist's idea of London. The open air theatre is fantastic and of course there is the Zoo for children, now I believe with more attractions than ever. The park considering the number of people in it provided space and a chance to get away from crowds elsewhere in London. It was also relatively litter free again a pleasant surprse these days. It is one of those ...

A Hidden Section

Advantages: Great in the summer, peaceful
Disadvantages: Can be bad for hayfever sufferers

There is a section of Regents Park that is really beautiful. It's the rose garden section and it looks great in summer. A lot of people who have registry weddings go there to take their photo's. Just around the corner from this section is the duck pond which has to large swans aswell, one white and the other black. To the right of the pond is a long path that goes behind some bushes, keep following that path and it will take you up onto an open space ...

The Open Air Theatre

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

Dispite the dreadful weather, if there is a dry day the Open Air Theatre in Regents Park is a wonderful place to visit. The Park itself is an excellent place to wander around and have a lazy afternoon. This year the programme seems interesting with A Mid Summers Nights Dream and Alice in Wonderland being part of the session. Don't forget there is London Zoo close by, as are Madame Tausauds and the Planetarium. And not very far is the Wallace Colletion ...

A MULTI-ETHNIC CITY

Advantages: All in opinion
Disadvantages: All in opinion

the worst excesses of racial tension are remarkably rare. Most cities in Europe do not have this diversity of origins - making London the city of Europe. The rapid growth in London`s population is due to large-scale immigration. London has overtaken Paris,Venice,Naples,Rome and Milan as it`s population grew. Apart from the people that have settled in London there are still 25 million visitors a year from all over the world. Wide ranges of ethnic communities have developed over the years in London`s boroughs. A number of ethnic traditions have been absorbed into London life. It has the biggest Caribbean carnival in Europe, it has London`s Chinatown, and the central Mosque in Regent`s Park is a sacred place for the Muslim religion. London would be a duller place to eat without the range of good restaurants serving Chinese and Indian ...

Historic Monument to a Turbulent Past

Advantages: Lot of history
Disadvantages: lot of walking

in Regent?s Park in London. For over 500 years, a major branch of the Royal Mint operated within the Tower?s precincts. One of its busiest times occurred during from silver confiscated from the recently dissolved monasteries. The Tower also safeguarded important State and legal records and manufactured and stored military equipment for the king and his army. ~A Reminder of the Past~ Today the Tower of London is one of Britain?s major tourist attractions. It looks much as it did in earlier times, so one can hardly walk around the grim, gray towers and cobbled streets without being reminded of the violence, suffering and human tragedy experienced within the Towers walls over the centuries. Its turbulent past is well summed up at the site of the scaffold on Tower Hill. There a small plague commemorates `the tragic history, and in many ...

SERVICE WITH A SMILE

Advantages: Clean, staff knowledge and politeness
Disadvantages: Mini-bar,

Celebrating twenty-one years of marriage we decided to visit London (one of my favourite places), and this time decided to stay the side of London we weren?t so familiar with near Regents park. Checking online we picked the Marriott hotel Regents Park. Set in King Henry?s Road NW3 the hotel contains 303 rooms set on seven floors. Each room the hotel boats has air-conditioning, & balcony. Arriving two hours prior to our agreed check in time we were pleasantly surprised to find our room was available. Travelling by lift to the fourth floor, we soon found our room. Entering the room you are faced with a decent sized room with two double beds, two arm chairs, a writing table (along with chair) and of course the obligatory TV and drawers/wardrobe. Our first impressions of the room and the hotel were generally very good; the reception ...
